When will TurboTax allow me to begin working on a tax return for 2021?

I can't see any way to open up a new federal tax return.

No one is going to prepare a 2021 tax return until next year in 2022, when tax year 2021 is over.   Right now the return you need to prepare and file is your 2020 tax return, and people have been working on 2020 returns for months now.   Were you confused about the tax year?

Thanks for the link. I filed my 2020 return back in March. I have a new job and am trying to plan.

don't use turbotax Online 

Use Turbotax cd/download program. oops too late for this year.

with the program you can prepare any number of returns, including trial returns with your expected 2021 income numbers.

Thanks, this is the answer I was looking for. I see now that you can't do a mock or trial return online.
