Hi,
I see Other withholdings $671 which are additional to my Federal income tax withheld from W-2.
I did not enter them manually anywhere.
How and where those "other withholdings" can be found in TurboTax online?

Are you referring to line 25b on Form 1040? These withholdings would come from a 1099 form, like 1099-R, 1099-INT, etc.
If you have an entry on line 25c then please see Line 25c—Other Forms.

Thanks, it's on line 25c in my tax return. Figured out.
I am also seeing this problem. I have $412 reported as "Other withholdings" that appear in 25c of my 1040. I can't find where it could have come from in any of the forms and information I submitted to TurboTax.
However, it seems like the "Additional Medicare tax" I owe is greater than what I have calculated on my own, by the exact same amount. In the end, the taxes I owe are what I expect based on my own calculations. I just don't know where this amount could be coming from and want to be sure I'm reporting accurately.
Yes it can be the extra Medicare tax on investments. There is extra withholding to offset it.
Additionally, please check Form 8959 line 22. That will tell you if additional tax was withheld on your W-2.

Thank you, this uncovers the source of the number $412, it is line22 of Form 8959. In my case (filing married jointly) it is effectively what was withheld from W2 earnings (box6 of W2) above the base Medicare tax rate of 1.35% applied to Medicare wages and tips (box5 of W2). Part I calculates the additional medicare tax owed.
It's a little bit of funny math, but the way TurboTax displays it makes sense if you understand the underlying tax forms.
From my point of view, when I first approached trying to verify the number, I took box5 from the W2 and the Medicare tax rates to calculate my total Medicare tax bill. Then I subtracted what had been withheld from my pay checks throughout the year (box6 from W2), and the difference should be when I owed to Medicare tax.
I think this would be a better way to display the remaining tax owed for Medicare in the "Explain my taxes" section. Or, if left as is, give some more context to what "Other withholdings" and "Additional Medicare tax" mean, because it is very misleading to someone who doesn't have a firm understanding of Form8959.
Thank you! I found Medicare tax on investments, it is listed in the "Explain my taxes" tool as "New investment income tax", under "Other taxes". So it doesn't explain the "Other withholdings" under "Taxes you've paid", but it is still an important bit of information.
