TT is asking me to put something into Box 16 from my 1099R form.
I have NO Box 16 on my 1099R form.
Why hasn't TT fixed this issue?

Do you have state income taxes withheld and entered in box 14 of the form 1099-R? If so, the state distribution is entered in box 16 of 1099-R. Use the amount in box 1 to enter in box 16 of the TurboTax1099-R
The IRS Form 1099-R has a box 16 so whomever supplied your 1099-R is not using the IRS format - https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1099r.pdf
Thank you for your reply. I did find the information in the Community Topics later.
But I think TT should have "Missing Box Information" accounted for. ie; If box 16 is missing on my form and I should "Use the amount in box 1 to enter in box 16 of the TurboTax1099-R" then tell me that.
As you say: "The IRS Form 1099-R has a box 16 so whomever supplied your 1099-R is not using the IRS format" - I'm sure that is true, but I have seen this issue on two government retirement 1099-R forms. One was a Federal and the other was a State 1099-R form.
So if two government Retirement Systems aren't following the correct format, how widespread could this problem potentially be? I'm just an individual user of TT so when something like this pops up, in a software program I Paid for, and I have to waste my time to find the correct answer, it doesn't make me a happy TT customer.
