SSA question

In 2022 I was audited by my State.  So I go to a CPA to see what's up.  The CPA lists my SS Benefits as taxable on Page 1 of the 1040.

I do my taxes on TurboTax and find that the SSA number is not taxable.  Did TT do something in the background of their program that I'm missing or did the CPA make an error?

Help...and thank you for answering.

Each year is separate.   Your SS might have been taxable in 2022 and not taxable in 2023.  What line is it on for 2022?  1040  Line 6a is for the gross SS amount and line 6b is the taxable amount.

Up to 85% of Social Security becomes taxable when all your other income plus 1/2 your social security, reaches:

Married Filing Jointly: $32,000

Single or head of household: $25,000

Married Filing Separately: 0
