What choices does it give you?    Did you get a 1099R?  Are you entering it in the right place?

Enter a 1099R under
Federal Taxes on left
Wages & Income
Then scroll way down to Retirement Plans and Social Security
Then IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R) – Click Start
If you are adding another 1099R there might be a Add button at the bottom of the list.

A retirement plan like a 401k contributions would be in box 12 on your W2.  Do you have anything in any of the box 12 lines?  Code D is for 401k  contributions.     Or is it asking you if box 13 is checked?  There are 3 little boxes in box 13.  Other than box 12 & 13 I don't know what it's asking your for.  What else is on the screen?

How about...Is it for a box 14 category?

Some state Public Employee plan contributions are in box 14

IF so, what does it say on your W-2 for box 14...and what state is involved?
