Re: Social Security

I signed up for social security and received my first payment on January 4th 2021. This payment was a lump sum dated back to June of 2020. Do I add this lump sum payment to my income for 2020 or 2021? I have not received a 1099SSA for 2020.

You will enter this payment on your 2021 tax return to be filed next year. The Social Security Administration will mail you the SSA-1099 in January 2022.
