It depends. To clarify, are you filing Married Filing Jointly or Separately?

HI!, I have the same question! We are filing Married Filing Separately on Same Return

Your husbands portion of the deductions would generally be half of what the total deductions were if you filed a joint return.  If you filed separate returns, then it would be the amount entered on his return for itemized deductions.  If you did not itemize and you took the standard deduction.  You will find the itemized or standard deduction amount on line 12a of your 1040.

If you are filing on the same return, then you are filing a joint return.  Do you mean you are entering a little information about him on your return such as his name, SSN and share of deductions?  Or are you entering his income too?

Should I enter the same amount for my husband's portion of DC deductions?

Hellow - checking back in about this question, as it does not seem like Turbo Tax fully answered the question. I am submitting DC tax return as "Married Filing Separately on the Same Return," and my husband and I plan to take the standard deduction. When prompted to enter each of our respective amounts of the deduction, I don't know what to do. Is it just half ($12,950) for each of us? Turbo Tax automatically put the full deduction under my husband and nothing under me, which lowered our taxes due by a few hundred dollars (if it is not split in half, but kept this way). Is that an option, somehow connected to our different salaries? Or must we split the deduction?

Thanks for your help!

The standard deduction would be $12,200 for married-filing seperate with an additional $1,300 if age 65 or over. You would enter that amount for each of you, so the standard deduction would be the same or similar for each of you, depending on your age.
