Converted $30,000 from traditional IRA to Roth IRA in 2025. Enter $30,000 from Form 1099R for 2025 tax return.

When checking on the supporting tax form 8606, the distribution on Part II, line 16 was shown as $60,000.

Why was the conversion amount doubled?

usually when folks post this sort of thing then post back later that they screwed up and entered the 1099-R twice?  if you are on desktop double click on line 8 or 16 to see the associated 1099(s)...

If you are using TurboTax Online please go back to your 1099-R entries and review the entry and follow-up questions:

    1. Click on "Search" on the top right and type “1099-R”
    2. Click on “Jump to 1099-R”

Sometimes deleting and reentering the 1099-R can be helpful.
