It's just as fast and easier to manually enter your W2 or 1099. Don't type the bank name or try to import it.
At the bottom pick - Change How I enter my Form
Then on the next screen pick - I'll Type it in Myself

You've done a great job starting your taxes early but The IRS is still working on finishing up the distributions
from Pensions, IRAs, etc. (Form 1099R) for 2020. That means this area isn't quite ready yet
Check back and we'll help you finish up"
Been getting the same message for 2 days now
Are you using TurboTax Desktop? Make sure your program is updated. In the top margin select "Online" then "Check for Updates". That section has been updated for quite a while. If you are using a Mac, click here for updating tips.
Running a PC
Installed Turbotax from a CD purchased at Staples about a week ago. The 5th time we did this to this PC and probably the 20th time in the course of our life
Turbotax imported data from our 2019 return just fine
Every time Turbotax starts up get a message 'checking for updates', give the PC permission to install the update, get message 'this will take about 10 minutes', a few minutes later start on the return, then when we get to the Income part it won't let me input
Started just now, and also went to the bar and asked for updates. Same thing, no change.
Am using Viper protection could that be the problem?
Does not sound like your updates are loading. Try turning off your Antivirus software then do the updates. You also might try restarting your computer. After your update loads, log out of TurboTax then restart.
How do I access my 1099r from DFAS?
Ask DFAS for another copy or if you can log into your account to download it.
