Newlywed from 2016. We filed separate in 2015. I used TurboTax; he did not. Do we have to enter his 2015 tax info into TurboTax?

There is a section for refunds received last year.  It only contains my info.  Do we need to populate his W2/tax info as well as his refund from 2015?

Yes, you certainly want to include your husband's W-2 if you are married filing jointly.  In addition, if you and your husband did not itemize your deductions in 2015, but instead took the Standard Deduction, you do not have to report the 1099-G's because they would not be taxable.  However, if you and/or your husband itemized your deductions on Schedule A, you would report both/one 1099-G'(s) in the joint tax return as follows:

• Open up your Turbotax program and select the Federal Taxes tab at the top left of your screen

• Select Wages & Income and I’ll choose what I work on

• On Your 2016 Income Summary Page, scroll down to the 1099-MISC and Other Common Income section, and select the Start or Update button to the right of the line that reads State and Local Tax Refunds on Form 1099-G

• On the next page, State and Local Tax Refund Summary, enter the first 1099-G and you’ll see a blue box towards the bottom that reads Add Another State or Local Tax Refund.  Enter the second 1099-G here.
