Wrong social security number on W-2

My employer sent me my w2 with a different social (I gave him my social number and his tax person put a dummy number) I've requested to have it corrected because that was not my social, can I still file my taxes or do I report with the social number he put?

Wrong social security number on W-2

Why did the answer for Line 6  on   and then Form 1040 come from?  Why does the Form say it is going to be helpful for your taxes on Social Security and then add $28570.00 to the taxable amount?

Wrong social security number on W-2

you will need to notify your employer and have them file a corrected w-2 with the IRS...  Because of this your return may be rejected and you may not be able to e-file. The corrected W-2 is a W-2C and it has to be filed by your payroll department.

Print your return and file by mail.  Note go back to the w-2 screen (search field type W-2 and jump to the section)  after the w-2 screen and you hit continue, there is a screen that says if this is a corrected w-2.  Respond that it is and file it by mail....

Notify your employer ASAP to correct though. If there is a mismatch it will cause delays.
