In prior years Social Security income was automatically added to my form when I logged in. Why isn't it there this year?

No you always have to manually enter your SSA-1099.

Enter a SSA-1099, SSA-1099-SM or RRB-1099 under

Federal Taxes on the left side or top

Wages and Income

Then scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security

Then the second line - Social Security (SSA-1099. RRB-1099) - click the Start or Revisit button

Up to 85% of Social Security becomes taxable when all your other income plus 1/2 your social security, reaches:

Married Filing Jointly: $32,000

Single or head of household: $25,000

Married Filing Separately: 0

There are two things here that you may be referring to.

• Your 2021 information didn't transfer onto the 2022 tax return.
  • You may not have chosen a previous return to have carried over
  • If you didn't, you won't have the previous year data, nor your personal information.
  • This is not a problem because the previous year return is only informational, but it may take a while to post all the data.
• You expected the Social Security information to be posted for 2022.
  • You will need to post a new SSA-1099 every year as @VolvoGirl stated above.
  • If the description information is missing, it is because you didn't select a 2021 tax return to be carried over.
