I just leaned that my wife has to file the 1099 NEC before January 31st. My only choice is to file it online to make sure that IRS will receive it.

You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
You can use this link to e-file the 1099-NEC. This is new for 2023.
You can also print it and mail it using TurboTax Home and Business. However, it will take longer for the IRS to receive, but as long as you have it post marked before January 31st, you are good to go.
Hi,
is there a possibility to do it online? for example on the IRS website? and then I can refer to it in my income tax?
Yes, You can use this link to e-file or file online through TurboTax.
If you want to file directly through the IRS you can use this link.
TurboTax does a better job of making it easier than the IRS link. But, either way, the forms will reach the IRS and you will be in full compliance.
Thank you, Vanessa!
I already bought the Turbo Tax software, Home and Business. Do I have to make a new purchase for the 1099 form?

No you don't have to buy anything more. Did you buy the Windows Home & Business or Mac? For Mac you need to use the Quick Employer Forms which will efile them.
How to prepare 1099Misc & W2
https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/forms/help/how-do-i-create-w-2-and-1099-forms-in-turbotax/00/25869
You can do them 2 different ways from the Windows Desktop Home & Business program. Either Online using Quick Employer Forms (QEF) -or- directly on your computer with the built in W2/1099 Reporter. If you use the Reporter on your computer you have to mail them to the IRS and not efile.
In the Window's Home & Business Desktop program to Prepare W2s or 1099s, on the first main screen there are 3 ways to start. Either click on the blue button Start a New Return or click on Create 1099/W-2 or go up to File-New Tax Return.
Thank you so much, Vanessa! Are you the volvoGirl?
I have the home and business software on Windows. I want to file the 1099 NEC now. Should I access this form on the software and how can I file it now? Please elaborate

No we are not the same person. I am just another user that's been here over 10 years.

You should use the Quick Employer Forms to efile. If you are in the Business tab you can get to the Online Quick Employer Forms under Business Expenses - Other Common Expenses - Contract Labor, click the Start here link.
One quick question regarding this.
this 1099 NEC will be issued to me as I did some work for my wife business. Is there a problem that my wife and I have the same address on the form.

No, that's ok. Then don't forget you need to enter the amount on your separate Schedule C as income.
Thank you so much! VolvoGirl.

Hi,
I just learned that I need to use a transmitter to file the 1099 NEC online. the question is how can I do this using the Home and Business Turbo Tax software. Please provide details?
In addition, since I have to do that before January 31st, can I just efile the 1099 NEC through turbo tax and then complete my taxes later.
