To enter your retirement income, Go to Federal> Wages and Income>Retirement Plans and Social Security>IRA 401 k) Pension Plan Withdrawals to enter your 1099R.
Be sure to wait until the 1099-R arrives.

I entered the info from the 1099r. When i continue Turbotax asks in 9b Total Employees Contributions and it's not an RMD as that's entered elsewhere. Also "is the taxable annuity the taxable amount?". I'm confused--this is a monthly federal pension. please advise me on how to enter this. I feel like I'm in the wrong place as it's not a TSP or an RMD it's monthly retirement check. Help!

If the program asks for an amount in box 9b and your Form 1099-R does not have an amount in box 9b then in this case it would be better to delete the Form 1099-R and then re-enter the form manually to clear the program error.
I agree with @DoninGA, it may be best to delete your Forms 1099-R and start over. Enter it manually.
