Filing taxes with no income but HoH and Child Dependency Exemption

Hello,

My brother is unable to work due to a medical disability from a stroke (waiting on SS to get approved). The facts are:

He has $0 income for 2024,  takes care of his 16 year old daughter who lives with him,  his divorce order says he claims the dependency exemption each year, and they are covered on Florida Medicaid.  Is there any benefit in filing a Federal tax return for him for tax year 2024 given those variables? Thank you in advance for your input.

Sorry-no.    The refundable child-related credits like child tax credit are based on having income from working.  If your brother did not work, he will not be eligible any income tax refund based on claiming a dependent.
