Next question:  2.  where is the question that asks if the home loan is a refinance or a home improvement loan.  I've looked quite a bit but cannot find them.

To get to the mortgage interest section to find those two questions:

1.  Click Federal Taxes across the top.

2.  Click Deductions & Credits across the top.

3.  Click I’ll choose what I work on.

4.  Scroll down to Your Home.

5.  Click Start or Update by Mortgage Interest, Refinancing, and Insurance.
