If the interest income is over $1500 his return is not a "simple" return and you will need to upgrade.

These are the situations covered

W-2 income
Interest or dividends
- Except (1099-INT/1099-DIV) that don’t require filing a Schedule B
- This occurs when you reach $1,500
IRS standard deduction
Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)
