When filling in your "Personal Info" TurboTax asks you to confirm where you state of residence is. Ok, that's all well and good, but then right below that it says "[John] lived in another state in 2023" - Yes or No.
Well, if you're an active duty military member you may live in one state, but have official residence in another.
So if you answer "Yes", John lived in another state then you are to fill out which state you lived in. This would suggest that the filers state of residency has changed when it has not.
For example, John is an active duty military member. His home of record is Florida. He has a Florida driver's license, he votes in Florida, he has his car registered in Florida. But he is stationed in Colorado. He "lives" in Colorado. If you were to answer the question as asked you would say "Yes" John "lives" in Colorado. This is confusing because of how the question is asked.
Instead, Turbo Tax should ask John's state of residency changed in 2023. That, or it should ask if John is in the military and what is John's state of residency.
