Why won't the software accept that I have zero royalties to report?

I don't see a trash can near the royalties box 2 in the 1099-Misc screen

Why won't the software accept that I have zero royalties to report?

I checked all the and the system still tells to input royalties when I have none.  I never clicked on that I had Royalties just Rental Property. I even deleted with 1099 MISC many times and started over.  Still...the system wants me to put in a number.  I even tried to input a $1 to see what happens.  Nothing.  Please help

Why won't the software accept that I have zero royalties to report?

On my Rental and Royalties Summary, it does not indicate type of property, therefore, cannot stop Turbo Tax from prompting me to add in the Royalty field on School E even though on the 1099 misc it is zero

This problem caused me lots of stress and frustration. I have the answer for everyone that's having this problem. You cannot electronically file unless you resolve this. This is the solution. Click so the cursor is to the right of the 0. Now use backspace to empty the Box. You don't want to see anything in the box. The box needs to be blank not zero. There's two places that you can type in the amount on the page. Make sure they're both blank. Then continued and the issue is resolved.

Thanks.   This worked for me.  I have 2 rental properties and I just kept going back and deleting by backspacing on the royalty line.   You can't leave a "0" in the space, it needs to be blank.  You're right, you have to do it in two places and then continue on in the program until you get to a "Done" screen.   Eventually it worked.    What a dumb bug that is still there in 2023, although I did not run into it in 2022 when I basically had the same properties.
