I sold my business in a stock sale, but I didn't receive a 1099-B. How do I report this?

It seems like I can report this as an "Other" investment, but some of the fields don't make sense. - Who is the "broker". Should I put the the settlement agent? - Under "How did you receive this investment?" there is no option to indicate that I started the company. I can select "I purchased it", but that's not accurate.

In TurboTax Premium Online, enter the form manually as follows:

  1. Down the left side of the screen, click Federal.
  2. Down the left side of the screen, click Wages & Income.
  3. Click the down arrow to the right of Investments and Savings.
  4. Click to the right of Stocks, Cryptocurrency, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other (1099-B).
  5. Click Add investments.
  6. On the Let's import your tax info screen, select Enter a different way.
  7. On the OK, let's start with one investment type screen, select Other, then Continue.
  8. At the screen Tell us more about this sale, enter the information.  Click Continue.
  9. At the screen Review this sale, enter the information.
  10. Select Continue.
  11. Select Add another sale to add another transaction.

There may be no broker.  Report 'Sale of XX Company'.

There may be no better choice than 'I purchased it'.

Thanks so much for the response! Sounds like I was on the right track, but good to have confirmation.
