MFS Where do I need to go to enter the 1/2 values for the 8949? Only Form 1099-B, Capital Loss Carry forward Worksheet and Schedule D is that all that I need to do?

We are filing MFS, and I entered 1099-DIV by dividing and overriding the original amount with half.  There's also 8949 proceeds, cost and net loss.  Where do I need to go to enter the 1/2 values? If I change the amounts to half on Form 1099-B, Capital Loss Carry forward Worksheet and Schedule D is that all that I need to do?

If you are both listed as owners of the 1099-B, you can split the amounts. If one of you is the owner, please see the answer from Tom Young.

Yes.  We are both joint owners.  Did I list all the forms where I need to go?  Thank you for your help.  My apologies for the late response.  I did not receive an email notification of your reply.

Yes, you each can just enter half. You may get a letter down the road but it's easily resolved by telling the IRS to see her return. Make sure everything adds up to the amount of the 1099-B.
