I rent Half of my property. Do I enter the full amount of taxes paid?
If you do not live in the other half of the property, then yes, you can deduct the entire property tax expense as a rental expense.
If you live in the other half of the property:
Yes, but you should divide entering your property taxes 50-50 between your personal Schedule A deductions, and the other half as Schedule E rental deductions.
To enter personal residence property tax:
· Type in property tax in the search box, top right of your screen,click the magnifying glass
· Click the jump to property tax link in the search results
· Follow to prompts and online instructions
To enter your rental property tax, type rental property and follow the above instructions
