Thank goodness I'm using the online version of TT. Won't have to pay if it doesn't work. Worked fine last year.
Thinking of switching already. I like to get these done and if TurboTax can't fix it's problem (and from other posts it IS their problem) then why use them?
This is totally unacceptable. This is a BIG feature of using TurboTax, and they can't deliver. Total crap on their part. They need to provide an ETA on when or IF this issue will be addressed. Since Morgan Stanley purchased E*Trade, this should be an even bigger priority for TurboTax since this is a massive growing online trading platform. Unacceptable!!
I guess for me, I have never had this issue before, but this is the earliest I have ever worked on my taxes. Typically I am last minute doing them in April. But once I get started, I like to get done, so I will probably manually enter the information if I can't download within by the weekend of the 25th. I hope they fix the problem soon.
I would say its an etrade problem but I can be wrong. I am really getting pissed at this point. First it was feb 12...then the 15...now its still not working. I have to say its etrade because the message I get says there are no documents available for my account. So its actually logging into my etrade acct. My 1099 has been on etrade since the 10th. I called both places and they ha e no records of any problems. I find that hard to believe with all these posts online.
New message when you try Etrade. It now says that "ETrade Securities is under maintenance". So maybe they're fixing it?
I just spoke to an etrade tech support rep and he said they are aware of the issue and said the eta is 2/16 now. He offered some other ways to upload like uploading via jpg but I don't see that option on for 1099s, on the Div and Int. I guess I will give it another day because I really don't feel like going line by line.
I cant even get it to allow me to do it manually lol I just get an error "Hmm, looks like we hit a slight snag in this section". it would be great if it gets fixed soon
At least your tech told you they were aware of the problem. Mine made me feel like I was an idiot and had no clue what i was talking about. Even asked me if I was sure I had an account with them....what??
Yep. Getting the same message now. Looks like they finally realized they got a problem.
folks, to relate an issue i had last year with foreign tax. tt violated every "fix" date they gave 2-10, 2-15, 2-28. once it "worked," it really didn't work. so i waited 3 weeks for one credit that the software never handled properly. i ended up itemizing it - which i could have done 3 weeks prior. don't be disappointed if you're very disappointed with tt - blowing deadlines and never getting it right.
Well, they'll get a couple of days and then it's off to some other software that hopefully works.
I appreciate all the people who contacted E*Trade and TurboTax support and put updates here. It seems to me that this is similar to a "he said-she said" divorce with each side saying it's the others issue, and leaving us kids in the dark.
Anyway, If I try now all I get is akmessag that says "This import was unsuccessful." and telling me to check my internet connection. All this I very frustrating, especially since nobody form TT has aknowledged on this thread that there is even a problem.
I've also been using TT for the last 20 years and never had this problem before.
Hello, I just talked with E-trade and starting 2.16.23 the error should be resolved. E-trade has to process a software update for the transfer to be allowed.
Well if they can’t even get someone to update the code to say ‘we are aware of the problem and an estimated time for a fix’ makes me more concerned about the rest of their code for the software.
