It normally goes on Schedule E. But you needed to use the Self Employed version to access Quick Employer Forms to prepare the 1099NEC to give out. You don't have to use Schedule C even though you are in the Self Employed version.
Thanks, but it wouldn't let me enter any of the 1099-NEC amounts unless I did so in the self-employment upgrade. Made a huge difference in my return amount, but I think Turbotax still has everything listed in my other section as well. Why does it charge extra to do things incorrectly? Super frustrating to pay more money for things to be so obviously incorrect. Very disappointed in Turbotax.
Who issued a 1099-NEC for a rental property ? If you are a landlord this is not the correct form ... it should have been a 1099-MISC for rent paid to you.
@Critter-3 In the top question he said 1099NEC that he issued. I don't know where that goes under Rental. Is there a labor category? He doesn't need to enter the actual 1099s. Just the total expense.
OK ... if you issued a 1099 for work done on your rental property then what was the work for ? Repairs ? Property improvements ? Management fees ? Enter them on the Sch E in the correct expense section OR make up your own category when given the chance at the end of the list.
