Is anyone else having trouble deleting a 4797 form? I wrongly entered the sale of my primary home as 'sale of business property' (the gain should be tax exempt, except for a small amount of depreciation I took for renting out some rooms for a few years). I fixed the error and recorded the sale on form 8949 but now there is no way to delete the capital gain in the 'sale of business property' section. When I go to that section in the software, i have deleted all forms there yet the income still remains... any help would be appreciated!!

I have tried all the suggestions online and tried my own. The form keeps coming back. Wasted many hours with Turbotax sw glitch.
You have posted this same question many times and the correct answer is that you must remove the source of the form to delete the form.

You cannot just delete that form because it is autogenerated by some other entry ... you must remove the root cause to delete that form.
If you are using the downloaded version then switch to the FORMS mode and review that form to see what is generating it so you know what needs to be removed.
If you are using the online version then click on TOOLS and then PRINT CENTER to choose the option of a PDF with the worksheets.
You gave me a good pointer. The rental property "SALE" is reported in the "Rental Propertis and Royalties" section, but the result shows up in "Business Items". There it is in "Sale of Business Propery" and had the button to Update if you need to edit. BUT, here is the fun part, you cannot do anything in this section. . Even though the number shows up here you have to go to the Rental section to update the numbers here. Talking about counter intuitive !. It took hours of trial and reading to figure this out. You cannot delete the for 4797 at all. If you delete, it comes back. Now I know how TT works.
The sale could have been entered in 2 places ... the rental asset section and the business prop sale section. When you entered the sale in the rental section it is also mentioned in the sale bus prop section to warn you to NOT enter it again. Sadly many users will come to this section and think they must enter the sale again so the program warns them to NOT do that ... if you read the screen carefully you will see that information.
It will not allow me to to preview my tax forms by selecting the print option without paying first. Therefore I cannot figure out how to delete the needed selections to delete forms 4797
Here's the general procedure for viewing the forms list and deleting unwanted forms, schedules, and worksheets in TurboTax Online:
