I have been working through my taxes with the online TT version (and already paid, so can no longer import my .tax2020 file) -- I had started with the online, then switched to the desktop version last year due to a bug.
I manually overrode some schedule E numbers for passive loss carryover (because TT online did not have the 2020 numbers for one of my rental properties, as I did not completely fill out the online version before switching to desktop last year).
This overriding managed to correct Schedule E and 8582 worksheets for Federal, however the state return (Massachusetts) also has an 8582, which shows the unamended numbers (specifically Part 4, column c, prior years).
What is editable at the state level for rentals is minimal. Is this a bug? My only idea was to print the state return and replace the 8582 form with the federal version, which doesn't feel great.
Also, somewhat related, my worksheets/comparisons look crazy because some of the 2020 online TT information that got imported is incomplete, do you expect this to raise any red flags?

Also, after talking with support, I completely deleted my state returns and started them again, which did not solve the problem.
@teri85 If you go to your rental property and go through the interview steps it will ask "Do any of these situations apply to you?" One of those situations is "I have a passive loss carryover from a prior year that I need to enter." If you enter the passive loss carryover here then it should carry into the Massachusetts return. Over riding numbers is a good way to get the forms to look right but the program can't carry the data where it belongs if you do that.
The IRS doesn't see your worksheets. So you don't have to care what they think about how you come up with the numbers on your return as long as the numbers on your return are correct.
