I think I know what went wrong with my Michigan tax return, as I was going to submit an amendment, I noticed Turbo Tax now says to use Adobe Reader to print with, due to some government agencies not being able to recognize forms printed via other software. I don’t know when this note was added, but I filed very early with printed forms that did not use Adobe Reader. I wish the State would have said form not readable as the reason for removing the subtraction, but they also knew what the amount was?!

@mansfieldjessica2 Sadly, Once your return is ACCEPTED by the IRS there is no way to change how you can get your refund. If by any chance, it gets rejected though you can edit the check option before resubmitting your return.
Do note the IRS under under Executive Order 14247 delaying many check and other refunds this year. Users are now getting CP53E notices and having to create IRS.gov accounts and tax refunds will be delayed for extended time. So please make sure to start your IRS.gov account as soon as you can to avoid this.
If you choose a bank account direct deposit, many banks are also rejecting refunds unless SSN matches.

TurboTax does not support or help with Form 709. Form 709 is not part of an income tax return.
Gifts given to family members, friends or other individuals are not deductible. Gifts received are not taxable to the person who received the gift, and are not entered on a tax return.
If your gift exceeds the yearly limit ($19,000 per individual) imposed by the gift tax rules, then you will need to complete a Form 709 gift tax form and send it to the IRS, although it is very unlikely that you will owe any tax.
TurboTax does not support Form 709. It is not an income tax form and would not be included as part of an income tax return.

To clarify, can you elaborate on why TurboTax is not allowing you to proceed?

I have had losses on a passive short term rental in 2024 & 2025. In 2024, turbotax carried the loss to form 8582 and added it to prior years unallowed losses. It also carried it to Schedule E Worksheet and it included depreciation in this. But in 2025, with a very similar P&L, turbotax is zeroing out the income/loss and depreciation on those forms. I have checked all the questions and check boxes and they are the same for both years. The only significant change was that we lived in the rental for 33% of the year. Any idea if TT is calculating this correctly? It seems very odd that it would not calculate the same as 2024 (less the 33% of personal use). Thanks!

Congratulations on your venture!! Here is a guideline on how to report this in your return. our Instacart earnings go under:
Income & Expenses → Self‑Employment Income and Expenses.
Once you’re in that section:
Add a new business (if TurboTax hasn’t already created one for you).
Business type: Rideshare/Delivery
Description: Instacart Shopper or Delivery Services
Under your business, look for Income and choose: “Form 1099‑NEC, 1099‑K, or cash income”. Enter your Instacart income based on what you received:
If you got a 1099‑NEC, enter it under the 1099‑NEC section.
If you got a 1099‑K, enter it under the 1099‑K section.
If you didn’t get either (common if you earned under the threshold), choose: “Additional income” → “Cash, checks, and other income” .
Don't forget to add your expenses. You should see a tab that says expenses. Take time to explore that section and deduct the expenses that you paid throughout the year.
If you have more questions about expenses or other questions, reach out!!

@fereshteh-shahoveisi if all items on your K-1 are 0, there is no reason you need to report it.
If I am misreading and there is something to report on your K-1 you can start an amended return once the status shows as accepted although some suggest waiting 30 days. Make sure to pay any taxes due though immediately if you requested a refund on your original return so as to avoid penalties and interest. If original was not a refund and you had no late payment penalties, you can pay difference by 4/15. Your amended return, if needed can be filed up to 3 years after tax deadline. Most importantly is paying taxes possibly due on time.

You can try entering a random number there besides $0 and then deleting it.
