There is no "YES" or "NO" or "ALL" or "NONE" on my RMD screen. It wants a dollar amount. If I put 0, the taxes seem normal (like if I was working and made that much). If I put the actual amount of my pension, it charges me $20,000 more in taxes and I make $60,000 per year on my pension - WHAT???. So, I think we should be putting $0 for the RMD if you have a true pension plan, state or government. Is that correct?

Thank you for your response, it is very helpful! However, I am not sure what you mean by "file as resident for tax purposes covering your world income and exclude foreign stipend income from Denmark."? I get my salary/income from my home university, am I not supposed to report that in my world income and if I do, how can I exclude my Danish income? Do you suggest I claim a treaty-based exclusion for it or?

We are in this situation also and SurePayroll created Sched H for us. We paid taxes all through 2025 through SurePayroll. Do we attach the SurePayroll Sched H to TT somehow? If yes, how? We already entered our estimated payments made throughout 2025 in 1040-ES in TT. Why doesn't TT have this comprehensively documented end to end? Seems like a common enough situation! The Sched H "wizard" is extremely unhelpful.

The extension gives you until October 15, 2026 to file your taxes without getting a failure to file penalty. You don't get extra time to pay your taxes so you must pay any taxes that you may have that are due by April 15, 2026 so you won't be assessed the failure to pay penalty.
Refer to the TurboTax Help article How do I file an IRS tax extension? or instructions. If you need to file a state extension, review the article How do I file an extension for my personal state taxes?

Thank you very much!!! When I did the first subtraction, I got $4092.04 It seems that is already including what is on line 29 of 8962. So that's all I need to do. It's obvious I am not a tax expert and actually feel pretty dumb about now. lol. The amount on Schedule 1, line 17 is the same as it was before; but when you told me to add line 29 of 8962, that turned the light bulb on for me. The amount Turbotax was using was more than we paid for the year, but I was not considering that we had excessive advance PTC and was actually paying that back with our tax return - so our total was suppose to be more than what we paid for insurance from Jan-Dec. At least that's what I think now... I feel like before long I am going to have to pay a tax professional. This is getting pretty complicated.
