TurboTax never mentioned irs would bill me 1500.00 for this tax year. Why didn’t TurboTax advise me if this? 75 year old and had been told I don’t have to pay on social security. Why?

@Rick19744 You seem to be a wealth of info on this topic! Hoping to catch you! I have been struggling with this for awhile! Would love to hear from anyone who can advise...   This is from a sale of stock in publicly traded partnership. Complete disposition. Sold partnership interest. There were proceeds on a 1099-B (2462). There's also some short term gain/ loss on the 1099-Bs. TT generated an 8949; boxes are checked that both short-and long-term transactions from 1099-B weren't reported to IRS. Relevant?   I want to make sure I'm not "doubling up the the disposition component" between the K-1 and the 1099-B. I will take photos of the 1099-B as well once I hear back from anyone interested in weighing in! I suspect I'm doing something wrong based on how much effort it's taken for me to get to this point, but I'm not sure how to determine my error... Which forms/ lines would I look at to assess? What needs to add up? I saw in another post, there was advice to zero out the 1099-B. Not sure if this is relevant to my case. If it's not matching, I would love help in making the correct adjustments.   Wondering: Did I do this correctly in general?  Sale price: took from 1099-B, long-term proceeds partnership basis: cost basis, K-1 ordinary gain: box 7, k-1. also section 751 gain.   Should my long term gain be zero on the 2nd photo "review investment"? If so, would I zero out any items in 1099-B? If so, which ones?   Eagerly awaiting to hear back! Thank you so much in advance!

@alyssaaresvik96  asked:  "I still have not received my state refund it says ready to mail I have never received it that way it always goes into my account. I don’t know what is going on need help"   "it says ready to mail"      What is the "it?"  Are you saying that the Tax Home in your Online TurboTax says "ready to mail?"  Or did  your state's refund tool have that message?   For this answer, I'll assume that's what you are seeing in Online TurboTax.   If you are referring to your state's refund lookup tool, the answer would be different.   If your Tax Home in Online TurboTax says your state return is "ready to mail", that means it has not been efiled in that account.  That would mean that for some reason TurboTax thinks you planned to mail it.  If you did NOT actually mail it, then you can change the filing method and submit the efile.   You can open the interview back up and go through the FILE section again, choose to efile, verify you chose to receive your refund by direct deposit, if desired, then proceed to the very end to submit your state return.  You should eventually get to a screen with a big orange button "Transmit My Returns Now" to click.   When you log in and go the Tax Home, your return interview will be closed.  To re-open it so you can get back in, look for a link "Add a State."   That doesn't really add one, but will reopen the interview.   When you are back in the interview, I would run the State Review again, just in case there have been any updates which affect your state return.   Then go to the FILE section and proceed as I mentioned above.
Changing it to short term rental did not remove the loss. I also tried updating the Active Participant info to 'No' but this didn't remove the loss either. Any other ideas?

I'm a resident alien with F-1 Visa, and I'm still a student. (first visit with this visa to the US is in July 2022)   I was searching for how to report 1042-S via TurboTax and I figured that out to report in 'other incomes'. I received two forms of 1042-S, one is for the TA job wages but due to the treaty exemption, 2k of the income is reported with 1042-S (and the rest of the wages are reported with W-2), and the other 1042-S is for the scholarship/fellowship of about 4k. In the form of 1098-T, it also has the scholarship around $4k, and I am concerned that part of my scholarship may be reported on both forms, potentially leading to double counting of income. Assuming my income reported on W-2 is 30k, the total income should be 30k(W-2) + 2k (1042-S, treaty exemption) + 4k (1042-S, scholarship) = 36k, but the total income calculated by the TurboTax is 40k because it added the 4k reported on 1098-T as well. (But the total income that I actually received in 2025 is 36k)   How should I handle this? I know that I need to report all the documents including W-2, two of 1042-S, and 1098-T.
I already tried downgrading to DIY, "clear and start over", and deleting forms manually (also flaky). In Full Service mode, trying to delete the docs makes it say I need my expert to delete it for me.
After completing all the information on Form 4852, the form failed TurboTax's review because the recipient and/or taxpayer's address was a foreign address.
I'm supposed to enter an "other" adjustment from gain/loss from this transaction and remove the "ordinary" checkbox

@DaveF1006 Step 3 mentions "On Line 1 (Ordinary Income), enter the total amount you need to "add back" as a positive number." Is this total amount to be added back is just the IDC, or IDC minus Ordinary Business Loss from Box 1 ( reported on k-1 as negative number) but here I think it should be subtracted as positive quantity ( otherwise, it becomes an addition, which will increase the tax instead of reducing it due to ordinary business loss)? Thanks.
30 days I filed and was rejected because of my birthday being wrong ,that has been corrected and I need to resend

I was at the pay for turbo tax page and my total was 56 dollars. I clicked a different link to see if that would give me a greater discount, but it didn't and now it won't go back to my previous pricing. It is 135 dollars now. I have tried clearing the cache and to no avail. Tried private browsing, still didn't work. The original link I had still indicates I should be getting the 56 dollar price. Very frustrating as I wanted to finish taxes tonight.

I have run into the same problem. Went around twice on this issue. Second time I entered random info for name and did not enter any other details. At the end I was able to use the trashcan to delete the canadian retirement plan. Have not yet finished my return, so hopefully I will not have issues with the review process like other users have noted. This has apparently been reported since back in February and here we are in April and the error still exists and I just did another update today. Based on this and more issues showing up in TurboTax in recent years, maybe it is time to try tax software from a different company.
