You can prepare a return for another person but they need their own account, user ID and email. You can provide them with that information so they can look at the return.
When you use online TurboTax software you get one return per fee.
Each return needs its own email, account and user ID. If you use the same account and user ID for a second return, the second one overwrites the first return and it is lost forever.

No, I did not receive a K-1T. Who is responsible for filling it out? I received the K-1 from an out of state CPA who is the CPA for my brother, both of whom are in Virginia. My brother is the Fiduciary for the Trust for which the inherited IRA sits. The CPA is not fully versed in Illinois tax laws. I did ask him for a K-1T but he replied that I needed to find a tax professional in Illinois.

Thanks. I confirmed "II" was not listed after "HH" in the initial drop down set. To solve the issue, I was able to bypass the first screen by responding with a blank 12a. The next screen prompts for 12a to be filled in. For some reason that drop down is more inclusive and "II" is included. It seems the user interface needs updating so both drop downs match! Thanks again.

Hello, I filed 2024 taxes with incorrect HSA contribution amount and have not amended it yet. I also had excess contribution of $1656 that I need to fix for my 2024/2025 taxes. I don’t have a HDHP after 2024, and have not incurred any HSA expenses. Should I amend my 2024 first, and then contact my HSA plan administrator to do a distribution withdraw? Should this be a normal or an excess contribution withdrawal? Would I pay the 6% on the carryover from 2024 into 2025, and 6% and/or 20% penalty for 2026 taxes on the excess amount for 2025 taxes? I would like to get this resolved and not have to deal with continuous future carryovers, even if I have to pay the penalty + taxes. I am planning to do a filing extension for 2025 to have more time to fix this issue. Thanks! - Steven

In TurboTax, you do not need to manually enter the deduction for Social Security benefits into the Colorado state section. Instead, the information flows automatically from your Federal return. For the 2025 tax year, Colorado has expanded these rules to allow more residents to fully deduct their benefits.
During the Colorado interview, you will reach a section titled "Subtractions from Income" or "Pension and Annuity Income Exclusion". TurboTax will display a summary of the Social Security amount that was taxed on your federal return and show it being excluded (subtracted) from your Colorado income.

Your information flows from your federal return to the state return. The software will follow the tax laws of your state. CO does tax Social Security, so you can expect to be taxed.
