I'm having the same issue where it's telling me to put $0. in line 19 columns A and B, even though I have income adjustments to be made.

I am getting the runaround with TurboTax customer service and Concierge. I was working with a tax “expert” with the turboTax  expert full service plan. I uploaded all the requested documents and had a consult with the preparer. A couple of days after our conversation, the expert  dumped the preparation of my taxes. I received an email by this morning from TurboTax stating that that preparer was unable to work with a 1031. No other explanation and no chat or call from the so-called expert. I then reached out to TurboTax to get some information on how to move forward, and if a different expert could be provided who did have the expertise to prepare my taxes. I was told conflicting information including  that the expert full service plan does not handle any 1031 like kind entries and/or I needed to use the desktop premium app and complete the taxes by myself? This seems illogical. Also, given that TurboTax has had my information since early March and I’m only being notified of any of this on April 1 is very poor service. The information on how to proceed remains unclear. Is it possible to use the Expert Full Service with a 1031 (very simple- done many years ago, one property, one time exchange) or must I use the desktop software/ platform? OR?

No, not correct.    The code W amounts indicate that the HSA contributions were made through your employer(s). Not necessarily by your employer(s), but through them.   As soon as TurboTax detects an excess (sometime in the HSA interview, when it confirms what your HDHP coverage is), TurboTax adds the excess amount automatically to Other Income on your 2025 return. Go check this, on line 8f on Schedule 1 (1040).   TurboTax does not (and indeed, can not) compare a 1099-SA with distribution code of '2' to the current year's excess because that form will normally be entered for an excess in 2024, i.e., the previous year. Besides, there is no date field on the form (the big 2025 is to show what year the IRS printed this form).   So TurboTax will report your excess, which is correct. The only issue is (1) are you withdrawing all of the excess before April 15th, (2) some of the excess by that date, or (3) none of the excess, and just carrying over the excess to the next year?   If you had wanted to avoid this whole issue of seeing the excess message, you would have needed to have one of your employers reduce the size of the code W amount, which they probably would not be willing to do, unless they may the error.

If you want to make changes or add a document to a tax return that has already been filed and accepted by the taxing agency, you should follow these guidelines.    You must first wait until the initial return is completely processed. This means waiting until the payment submitted with the tax return has been processed, or your refund has been received. You will have to use the same TurboTax account that you used for the original tax return. Once you begin your amendment, you'll see your original return. The refund calculator will start new at $0 and only reflect the changes in the refund or tax due Only make changes to the areas of your return that need to be corrected. You have three years from the date you filed your return or two years after you paid the tax due (whichever is later) to file an amendment

You can generally e file amended returns for the current year and two prior years. If you keep getting logged out you can try the following: Go out of your program and go back in. Clear your cache and cookies. Try a different Web Browser. If you are using TurboTax Desktop make sure all updates have been run on your program. You can do this by clicking on "Online" in the black bar across the top of your TurboTax screen. And then select "Check for Updates".   If e-filing is not supported for a specific scenario, you will be prompted to print and mail the amendment.   How do I amend my federal tax return for a prior year?   @prapanw
Thank you. Is there any reason to believe this won't happen in the future if I change allocations? I don't need to do so this year but the prior reply suggested that TurboTax wasn't supporting it.
Thank you Dianne. I went through your suggestions. I can’t find Days Rented in Rental Properties Info. section. Very strange! Any other advices? Thanks in advance.

@Taxpayer1010    The error is one I've companies about, but TTX experts haven't agreed (yet). And it only happens with the 1099-DIV form for breaking down tax-exempt dividends.   (for a 1099-INT with tax-exempt $$ in box 8, the second button state breakdown takes precedence, no matter how the first button is set) ______________________ The problem I've seen for the 1099-DIV, is that people have to make sure the first button "....One state..."  is set to "Multiple States".  If they had accidentally set the One State button to their home state...then that takes priority, even if they then choose the second button, and do a breakdown. _________________ I've added some pictures to help others: _______________________ Here's my examples of how to do a state breakdown,  for tax-exempt $$ on a 1099-DIV form, for a supposed NC resident:     ______________________________ Then the next step...but only if you want to do it.  This next step is not required, but might save some of your state taxes if your own state's bond $$ amount is significant.  For this example, the NC resident would save ~$13 in NC state taxes for his/her calculation efforts (Tax rate is ~4% for NC).

Thank you, John, for replying.   I was rejected, and one of my kids might be a victim of identity theft, for all I know. If so, why did I pay several hundred dollars for inaccurate info, such as: "The IRS will accept it"? Turbotax expensive tax thing on the market, but not any more helpful than the free services that didn't help me with this last year. You've already charged me, but the government doesn't actually have my taxes yet.

Glad you brought this up. I live in PA and work in MD. My company took out PA taxes, which is good. But turbotax keeps looking for MD taxes to be done. I assume it because my company has a MD address, or did I put in something I should not have? When I do the states, PA and MD are listed. It won't let me delete MD since it is reciprocal.  But I assume it is why the GL schedule keeps coming up?

The question is whether the H&R Block software will work with Win 10 next year.    Also, it's not a picnic for everyone. For example, there were a number of brokerage firms this year that H&R Block did not support, Merrill Lynch being one example, which created an issue for users who needed to import their consolidated 1099s.
