Thank you so much! My hubby is working on an agreement with his sister. It sounds like we need to ensure that the agreement covers the release of the escrow funds. He was hoping for a simple agreement to divide the remaining assets with her keeping the remaining house and him keeping the cash and dividing the sale proceeds in half. So I can run a back of the envelope calculation of what the taxable income should look like and factor that in. But it sounds like it will not be an issue for the 2025 tax return.

You need to delete the duplicate RMDs (which are reported via Form 1099-R).
Enter/Edit/Delete 1099-R:
Open or continue your return.
Search for "1099-R" in the Search box.
Click on "Jump to 1099-R" link.
When you find "Your 1099-R Entries" or "Review your 1099-R info" screen, Click on the trash can icon (or the Delete button) next to it, and Confirm that you want to delete the form.
Continue through the rest of the 1099-R "interview" questions until you reach the end of that section (to make sure the program recalculates your total RMD correctly).
If your Refund/Owed meter still looks too high, you may also have a duplicate "RMD Worksheet."
Here's the general procedure for viewing a list of all the forms in your return and deleting unwanted forms, schedules, and worksheets in TurboTax Online:
Open or continue your return.
On Tax Home, select Start, Continue, or Pick up where you left off to enter your return.
In the left menu, select Tax Tools and then Tools.
In the pop-up window Tool Center, choose Delete a form.
Select Delete next to the form, schedule, and worksheet in the list and follow the instructions.

Since the instructions to Form MO-TC do not specify parameters for splitting the credit between spouses, I suggest you allocate it based on the purpose of the credit. If the credit applies to both of you, it would be reasonable to split it 50/50. If the purpose of the credit is only beneficial to one of you, then allocate to that person. For instance, if you have a work credit and you are the only one working, then you would take 100% of that credit.

Yes, mostly. You can go back and amend your returns for the prior 3 years to claim the Self Employed Health insurance deduction. You have three years after the date your filed your original return or 2 years after the date you paid the tax, whichever is later, to amend your return. So if you filed all of your returns on time, you would not be able to do the one from 2021 or before to claim a refund.
For your 2022 return, assuming it was filed and paid on time, you would need to Amend it by April 15, 2026 in order to claim a refund.
However, prior to amending, be sure you did not claim this deduction without knowing it. If you entered your SSA-1099 into TurboTax, and it included Medicare Premiums, it may have transferred to your business. You would find this on Schedule 1 Part II line 17 for 2024 if you were given the deduction. This does NOT show on Schedule C. It is an above the line deduction on Schedule 1. You may also see form 7206 for 2023 and 2024. Medicare B may have been transferred, but your Medigap premiums, you would have had to enter.
Also note, that your self-employed health insurance deduction is limited to your profit. It cannot create a loss.

IF you have a California/Trust Returns (541/1041): This error frequently impacts business/trust returns. If a manual update does not work, it may require waiting for a new patch to be released by TurboTax. You can e-file your federal, print and mail the CA return. Note it is because CA is late in finalizing forms which then need to be updated by TT tech. If that is not the case, try the following:
Try running Turbotax as Administrator if using desktop
CHECK INTERNET/BROWSER: Clear cache/cookies, or try a different browser.
All TT files must be on your C: drive, not on thumb drives.REVIEW FORMS by Go to "REVIEW" tab to see if specific forms are still listed as unavailable and not finalized.
Check Form Errors: Go to Forms Mode in TurboTax Desktop and check for red exclamation points, which indicate incomplete information.
RUN SMARTCHECK
Disable Security Software: Temporarily turn off antivirus software (e.g., Norton) and VPNs, then try updating/filing again. Even if TurboTax says it is up to date, disabling security software and relaunching can sometimes trigger a necessary, overlooked update. If you know how to just allow a program through your antivirus, you can look at programs recently blocked and just allow them through, often an issue with security software.
Manual Update: Within TurboTax, go to the "Online" menu and select "Check for Updates". This should be done after you disable the antivirus, as the antivirus may be blocking the updates erroneously.
Reinstall: If the above fails, uninstall TurboTax and reinstall it using your download from the official TurboTax account.
If all else fails, print and file by mail. You may be able to e-file fed, unselect state.

As @xmasbaby0 has said several times in this thread:
We are seeing lots of users who made a user error that caused their SS to be not taxed correctly. Right after the screen where you enter the SSA1099, the next screen has questions about whether you lived in certain foreign countries in 2025. If you skipped past that screen or answered incorrectly on that screen, your SS was not taxed correctly and you ended up with "zero" on line 6b instead of the amount of SS that should have been taxed. It is so important to take your time and read every screen top to bottom.
