@p301 Yeah.....there is a follow-up page that asks about it...but there's a TTX screwup in their wording that is misleading thousand's of users....most of whom don't realize it). _____________________________ If your box 2a has a non-zero number in it..(not blank, nor marked as undetermined), and that number is somewhat lower than the box 1 number, due to an after-tax contribution amount that is noted in box 5...then edit that retirement form again, and when you get to the following page (below), answer it as-if the displayed edits were present (i.e. you needed to answer YES). Answering YES will use the box 2a $$ amount on your for 1040. Checking lines 5a and 5b on your form 1040, before and after entering that 1099-R, and the 5b amount should be lower than line 5a. (But if you answered No, and already entered some $$ in the "General" or "Simplified" calculation area ,you might need to delete your 1099-R first and re-enter it from scratch...not sure of that though) ______________________

Report it on your return as the same type of income as this income retains its character. Technically, this is IRD (income in respect of a decedent). Very sorry form your loss.

Here is my situation: 1. Married and filing a joint return. 2. We have 2 properties (17 units total) that are in LLCs. 3. My husband has W2 income; I do not. I solely manage our properties and have a small side business. I cannot...for the life of me ...get Turbo Tax to recognize me (or even give me the option) of electing as a REPS. I am using the desktop Home and Business, ive consulted AI and STILL CANNOT GET IT. II am LITERALLY the text book case, I've answered all the questions and gone into forms to double-check. I'm at a loss DOES ANYONE...know. how. to. do. this.

Once your return is filed, TurboTax has no control over the processing or the timing when the IRS releases your refund.
The IRS states that most federal tax refunds are issued within 21 days of acceptance, however, some may take longer if they require additional review. Also, by law, the IRS cannot issue EITC or ACTC refunds before mid-February. This applies to your entire refund, not just the portion related to those specific credits.
Here are a few FAQs to help you track your refund: When will I get my federal tax refund? How do I track my state refund? Why does Where's My Refund say "approved" but TurboTax still says "accepted"?
Why do some refunds take longer than others?
What if my IRS refund is taking longer than 21 days?

With all due respect for the TTaxBusiness developers, I don't understand why fixing this issue is such a monumental problem that, as stated, it won't make it to this year's software release. We know that this was working in early/mid December. Why is it so hard to go back to that version of the software and compare and see what went wrong and fix it. I have 30+ years of software engineering background and have an idea how Version Control works so I don't understand why Intuit can't provide a quick fix!

Total Income is the sum of all your income sources, such as wages, interest, dividends, and other earnings. Adjusted gross income (AGI) is your total Income minus specific deductions called adjustments to income. These adjustments include things like educator expenses, student loan interest, and certain retirement contributions. If your TurboTax Summary shows Total Income and AGI as the same amount, it likely means you have no adjustments to income reducing your Total Income. This can happen if you didn't enter or qualify for any deductions that adjust your income before calculating AGI.

My mother died in February so did not live in the US for six months, so do I answer yes (since she lived in the US for the entire time she was living) or no (since she died before six months were finished) to the statement "I lived in the US for at least 6 months in 2025."?

No 1099 involved. Filed taxes, received a refund of $2194. TurboTax indicated refund of $2898 at the top of the screen. Expected this refund. Should I file an Amended Return? TurboTax will not allow a 2nd (corrected) Filing. Very frustrated and confused at this point. 77 years old.... maybe finally too old to do this stuff via TurboTax???

If box 2a on the Form 1099-R has an amount entered, then that is the taxable amount of the distribution.
