Line 9b on form 8960 will only get filled in if you are itemizing deductions and have state and local income tax paid.  If you are itemizing and you had state and local taxes paid on line 5a of Schedule A, but your line 9b on Form 8960 is blank, then would you be willing to provide a diagnostic copy of your return (all personal info is removed) so that we can take a closer look at it?   You can send one to us by following the directions below:   TurboTax Online:   Sign into your online account. Locate the Tax Tools on the left-hand side of the screen. A drop-down will appear. Select Tools On the pop-up screen, click on “Share my file with agent.” This will generate a message that a diagnostic file gets sanitized and transmitted to us. Please provide the Token Number that was generated in the response.   TurboTax Desktop/Download Versions:   Open your return. Click the Online tab in the black bar across the top of TurboTax and select “Send Tax File to Agent” * This will generate a message that a diagnostic copy will be created.  Click on OK and the tax file will be sanitized and transmitted to us. Please provide the Token Number  (including the dash) that was generated in the response.   *(If using a MAC, go to the menu at the top of the screen, select Help, then, “Send Tax File to Agent”)

When you are entering income on a joint return, every income entry screen will either have a spot with both spouse’s names there, or when you click to enter a W-2, 1099R, etc. it will ask you by name which spouse it is for.  You do not have to wait for the software to “ask” you for your spouse’s income. Go to the screens to enter your spouse’s W-2’s, 1099’s, etc. just like you did for your own income.  Then look for your spouse’s name there.   To enter a 1099NEC:   Go to Federal>Wages and Income>1099Misc and Other Common Income>Income from Form 1099NEC

You can request your transcript online at the following link: Get Transcript Please click on this TurboTax article for more information.    Check these items as well to ensure you have the correct number.  If you:  Filed late last year after mid-November or your return was processed after that time—try entering 0. Amended your return last year—make sure you’re using the AGI from your original return, not the amended one. (If you only have a 1040X form, it’s on line 1, column A). Rounded your AGI to the nearest dollar—be sure to round up when it’s 50 cents or more and down when it’s 49 cents or less. Filed with your spouse last year—you and your spouse have the same 2024 AGI. (Don’t split the AGI amount or enter  0  for one of you).   Time-saving Tip: If what you entered is correct and you continue to get a reject, you won't be able to e-file. There's probably a data mismatch at the government, or some other situation beyond your control that prevents your return from being e-filed. In this case, your only option would be to print and mail in your return.    This article will give you instruction on how to print and mail your return.

@CLtaxes If you are using Forms Mode, then the T3 page has 2 boxes near the top - Your Percentage and Your Spouse's Percentage. You would enter your spouse's percentage in the second box, and then your percentage will be updated.    In EasyStep Mode, there is a box on the bottom of the T3 to enter your spouse's percentage.   That is the correct way of doing the split, no override is needed.

Once your return is filed, TurboTax has no control over the processing or the timing when the IRS releases your refund.    Your refund could be offset. The IRS and State Governments have the ability to offset a refund to pay for certain past due debts.  You generally will receive a letter stating what the offset was for.    The IRS provides a toll-free number, (800) 304-3107, to call for information about tax offsets.   Here are a few FAQs to help you track your refund: When will I get my federal tax refund? How do I track my state refund? Why does Where's My Refund say "approved" but TurboTax still says "accepted"? Why do some refunds take longer than others? What if my IRS refund is taking longer than 21 days?

Taxes are not so straight forward for calculations. Credit Limit Worksheet A isn't just looking at your total tax; it’s designed to figure out how much of your tax can be offset by non-refundable credits before you are allowed to claim the refundable portion (the ACTC). Line 13 is  trying to determine the limit of your tax liability that can be reduced. The formula generally looks like this: Line 13 =Total Tax -Certain Non-refundable Credits If you have other credits (like Energy credits or Foreign Tax credits), those reduce your tax liability first, which changes the amount available on Line 13. @stuckdoingtaxes1
Please clarify - what issues are you having with the confirm payment screen?

When you are married or common law, you must provide the CRA with certain information for the total household income to be calculated.   You don't need his entire return finished with the accurate figures. You just need to total his income and deductions to find his Line 23600 (Net Income). You can enter an estimate for now just to bypass the screen, but you must update it with the exact number before hitting "Submit."   Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
