Since I do not have Windows 11, I have to use online version, I added my code of the Home & Business product that I entered.  I started working on mine, I wanted to save and start working on my kids and parents, but it doesn't give me an option to start a new return like the desktop version does.  The packet reads "technical support included 24/7 but no way to contact support on a number, only this community page. THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING, please help.
@Fisch33 A business tax ID number is typically a 9 digit number formatted XX-XXXXXXX.  Could you please share what form is demanding a business tax ID number of 12 digits?

Okay, after some more digging I figured it out. It is part of the NJ tax filing process to ask for total of IRAs at EOY (tax year). TurboTax creates a form called "Pensions, ... Wks" in the NJ section which records withdrawals for the tax year. It also SHOULD copy the value from the previous tax year, but this year (2025) it failed to do that, so I had to find that worksheet in my 2024 filing and hand-copy it across.

If you live in New Jersey, all your income will be taxed there.  You would get a credit on your NJ return for any tax paid to NY on the same wages. so you're not double-taxed.  If you can open your 2024 return and look at your W-2 entry, I'm wondering if you have something odd in the State section there.     In Box 15, you should have NJ with an amount of Wages in Box 16, and amount of tax paid to NJ in Box 17.  If the Wages in Box 16 are less than Box 1, TurboTax may have added them together in order to report your total income to NJ.     If you have NY in Box 15, and an amount of Wages in 16, and a Tax in Box 17, again the wages in 16 may have been added to Box 1 to report the total to NJ.  If you can share what is in those boxes on your W-2, we'll try to help.   @chardiamond

Please explain-----did you already e-file?   If you already e-filed you cannot submit any additional forms or make any changes unless the e-file is rejected.   If it is rejected you can add more information or make changes before you re-file.  If the e-file has been accepted, you have to wait until it has been fully processed and then use a Form 1040X to amend.  1040X will not be available until late February.

It depends. PA 529 FAQs states: Pennsylvania taxpayers can deduct up to $19,000 in contributions per beneficiary per year ($38,000 if married filing jointly, assuming each spouse had income of at least $19,000) from their Pennsylvania taxable income for the purposes of determining their state income taxes.   You may want to review his income sources and what stats are selected.
Not the answer. The correct answer is: Ohio requires that all days (365) are accounted for and all assigned a School Code. Days as a non-resident have to also be accounted for under School Code 9999.

Whether to put the Enhanced Senior deduction into Line 7 Standard Deduction or Line 14 Compute Tax (and account for any other deductions) can be debated. But, it doesn’t solve the fundamental problem! TurboTax will not allow the user to change either of these fields.

I submit a changed W-4 to my employer to include additional withholdings. On today's paycheck, they withheld 3x that amount in additional withholdings. Their reasoning is that since I submit the change the same day as my last paycheck, " the system did retro entries for the taxes" (verbatim). How is that possible? I asked for clarification since I know retro deductions are not supposed to be allowed, and was advised that Federal is always prorated. They acknowledged that there is nowhere for me to see that information to have known it would happen. Are they allowed to do that? Where can I get more information on how changed W-4 works for deductions once applied? Nothing discusses retroactive deductions clearly.
pre-tax benefits, the amount was subtracted from your taxable wages in box 2. There is no further tax benefit or anything else to report.

I assume it's still there and it's false advertising (or at least misleading) otherwise.

Hi, I set up a solo 401k (self-employed, no employees) with auto-enrollment option, in February 2026 and I will make contributions for 2025. Can I claim the $500  ($1500 spreed over 3 years) auto-enrollment option tax credit for 2025, or only for 2026 and forward (2027 and 2028)? Form 8881 Part II.   Thanks

I successfully filed my tax returns using Turbotax Desktop with a Form 5695 on Feb 3 at 4 pm.  I had an issue with what QMID meant. So I googled it and got a link to the IRS's Qualified Manufacturer ID's (QMID's). I found the manufacturer of my heat pump and entered its QMID #. Some said Turbotax placed their entry on the wrong line of Form 5695.  That did not happen on mine. I was able to select a heat pump and it sent to the correct line on Form 5695 to get the $2,000 credit. I'm an accountant. So I check these things out.

I just spent over an hour with a TurboTax tech.  After consulting with two supervisors, they admitted that it is a bug.  To get past the "A value is required" Custodian name page, just click Back, then Back again to return to Step-by-Step.  We did a REVIEW and it found three spots on a form that needed to be checked No. Then everything passed so this does not prevent us from filing.  However, it does not give me much confidence in TurboTax right now.
