On your Schedule A Itemized Deductions, the second section "Taxes Paid" would consist of any state and local income taxes or general sales taxes that you entered in TurboTax plus any state and local real estate taxes, and state and local personal property taxes. These would have been entered into TurboTax under Deductions & Credits and Your Home.   You can review your entries to verify that they are correct as follows: In TurboTax Desktop: Click on "Deductions & Credits" Select "I'll choose what I work on" Under "Your Home" select "Visit All"  Review your entries to make sure they are correct. In TurboTax Online: Click on "Deductions & Credits" under your Federal Return Click on "Property (real estate)Taxes" hover over "Deductions & Credits", and a box will pop up next to it. It will take you to the screen "Did you pay property or real estate taxes?" Follow through the screens to check your entries to make sure they are correct. If you entered your property taxes when entering your Form 1098 for your Mortgage Interest, do not enter it again under property taxes as it will be doubled.  If this is the case remove it from one of the input areas.   You can also preview your return to examine your Schedule A to make sure your entries are correct. You can do this using the following directions: How do I preview my TurboTax Online return before filing? and How do I preview my return in the TurboTax Desktop software?   Click here for What Is a Schedule A IRS form? Click here for "Claiming Property Taxes on Your Tax Return"   Click here for Where do I enter my real estate (property) taxes in TurboTax? Please return to Community if you have any additional information or questions and we would be happy to help.

I have Turbotax 2025 PC Desktop.  In final review, this question keeps coming up:  "Pensions, Annuities and IRAs Wks-TP: Part A. line 4a and part a line b should not both be answered"   I don't have any previous contributions previously taxed, so I enter $0  but it won't accept that answer and circles back.  I am filing a NJ return in my tax return.

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.  “21 days”  is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.      First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:  https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/   Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.     You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2025 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds   To track your state refund:     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr   If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/refunds-take-longer-others/L14YlqFrH_US_en_US?uid=lexdr7zh . https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/irs-refund-taking-longer-21-days/L2vRAJbdU_US_en_US?uid=lexe7lst         If you are getting earned income credit on line 27 or additional child tax credit on line 28 You are subject to the delay required by the PATH act.  Do not expect your refund before early March   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/internal-revenue-service/federal-refunds-delayed-due-path-act/L5jnQJsBi_US_en_US   Note:  “Accepted” is not the same as “approved”.  TurboTax tells you the e-file was accepted if the IRS deems that there is enough information on the return for them to take it in for processing.   Only the IRS can approve of the refund, which is a later stage of processing.  If the IRS approves your refund they will provide a date for the refund to be issued.   FROM THE IRS WHERE’S MY REFUND SITE: https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund How it works Where's My Refund shows your refund status: Return Received – We received your return and are processing it. Refund Approved – We approved your refund and are preparing to issue it by the date shown. Refund Sent – We sent the refund to your bank or to you in the mail. It may take 5 days for it to show in your bank account or several weeks for your check to arrive in the mail.

The “senior deduction” is added automatically by the software based on the date of birth and filing status you entered into MY INFO.  You do not need to take any extra steps to enter it. (And…the new senior deduction has nothing to do with whether you are getting Social Security)   The deduction is not on the same line as your standard deduction.  It is shown separately.     2025 STANDARD DEDUCTION AMOUNTS SINGLE $15,750  (65 or older/legally blind + $2000) MARRIED FILING SEPARATELY $15,750  (65 or older/legally blind +1600) MARRIED FILING JOINTLY $31,500  (65 or older/legally blind + $1600) HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD $23,625 (65 or older/legally blind + $2000)     For 2025 through 2028 there is an extra  deduction amount of up to $6000 per individual 65 or older filing Single, MFJ, or HOH which is phased out for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income over $75,000 for single filers and $150,000 for joint filers.   (The deduction phases out completely at $175.000 Single or HOH, or $250,000 joint)   The $6,000 senior deduction will be calculated on 1040 Schedule 1-A page 2 Part V Enhanced Deduction for Seniors which goes to 1040 line 13b. It is separate and in addition to the Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions on 1040 line 12e.  Turbo Tax automatically includes it. IRS Schedule 1-A https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-dft/f1040s1a--dft.pdf   Need to see it? https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/preview-turbotax-online-return-filing/L77WCkvnu_US_en_US?uid=m681fkhr   If you are not getting the senior deduction it is because Your date of birth in MY INFO shows that you were not 65 by the end of 2025 Your income is too high You are filing married filing separately

Marilyn G1 is correct.  If you file joint state returns you do not need to and should NOT file separate state returns.  For each state, you either file a single joint return, or you each file a separate state return.   TurboTax has allocation screens and a worksheet to assist you in entering any adjustments your community property state may require when filing separately.  For more information on filing separately in a Community Property State click on the following link to a TurboTax Help Article on the subject:     Married Filing Separately in community property states

Preparing a federal tax return with CO state added.  TurboTax is correctly handling the overtime premium pay deduction on the federal return and deducting it from federal taxable income using schedule 1-A, which flows to form 1040 line 13b.  On the Colorado form 104, however, the overtime premium is never added back to taxable income, and there is no option to manually enter it.  The W2 is entered correctly.  TT recognizes the OT premium.  The overtime box was automatically checked in other situations, and no longer appears if I go back to that screen.  But the OT premium is not on the state return.  That is an error which will underreport state income.

It might be easier for you to share a copy of the TurboTax ".tax2025" file that is experiencing this issue. You can send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information. If you would like to do this, here are the instructions:    Open your return and go to Online in the top menu, then choose "Send Tax File to Agent." You will see a message explaining what the diagnostic copy is.  Click okay through this screen and then you will get a Token number.  Reply to this thread with a screenshot of your Token number (this avoids Community filters for numbers with a dash) and tag (@) the Expert requesting the token from you. Please include any States that are part of your return - this is VERY important.   We will attempt to determine the best option for you to resolve this experience and post a reply in this thread.

You cannot change or add anything on the return that you just e-filed, nor can you stop it.  It is too late, just like when you put an envelope in a US mailbox on the corner.  The IRS does not allow you to take it back.   If you left out a W-2, a 1099G, or a dependent, or a 1099 etc…DO NOT change your return while it is “pending.”  The changes will go nowhere.   Now you have to wait until the IRS either rejects or accepts your return.  If your return is rejected, you will be able to go into your account and make the necessary changes to your tax return and re-submit your return.     If the IRS accepts your return, however, then you have to wait longer until it has been fully processed and you have received your refund.  THEN you can prepare an amended tax return and e-file or mail  it in. You have to be able to work from that return exactly the way it was when it was e-filed originally.  You will need to use a form called a 1040X.     Meanwhile, DO NOT go in and start changing anything on your return in the system, or you will make a mess for yourself.  Sit tight and wait until you see what the IRS does with the return you just e-filed   The Form 1040X you need becomes available in late February,  But wait until your return has been processed.

@GoldenBailey  the LTC distributions should be the name of the person the tax return is being made for if filing single, so name entry is not required.  If filing jointly, you would need to locate the 1099-LTC form data entry (ref above posts on crazy process). If you are using the interview approach to completing your return, that probably won't help here. You'll need to go to the form option to enter that data under "other/less common income." If filing jointly, the instructions are to enter the total LTC distributions received, but you don't have to enter the name or names of individuals - they don't seem to want individual reporting, just the total disbursements. Odd, but that's what the TurboTax tool says... hope that helps.
