As M-MTax said, the number of days has nothing to do with Schedule E versus Schedule C.  That is strictly based on if "services" are provided to the tenants.   In answer to the question, if it is short-term rental on Schedule E and you Materially Participate, you are correct it is non-passive.  Unfortunately, the step-by-step interview is NOT set up for that.  The only way to do it is to use the Desktop/downloaded version of TurboTax and go to the "Forms" to get to the "Schedule E Wks" and mark the "Other Passive Exceptions" box.  Or use another brand software that is set up for this fairly common scenario.
I was just told by a respresentive of Turbo Tax on Monday the 23rd it would be ready on Februaray 25th? Why do you keep chaning the dates...this is ridiculous. I will never use your software again.

@Annalissia  The Form 1040-X for amending a 2025 federal tax return is estimated to be available in TurboTax on 03/04/2026   An amended return, Form 1040-X, can only be printed and mailed to the IRS if the original tax return was not e-filed. The IRS will take up to 20 weeks or longer to process an amended tax return. Before starting to amend the tax return, wait for the tax refund to be received or the taxes due to be paid and processed by the IRS. See this TurboTax support FAQ for amending a current year tax return - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/amend-federal-tax-return-curr...

Importing into TurboTax depends entirely on whether you are using the Desktop version or the Online version.   The Desktop version is the only one that supports a direct "file import" using the .TXF format.   Step 1: Export from Deductible Duck Log in to your Deductible Duck account. Go to the Tax Reports section and select Export for TurboTax (.TXF). Save this file to your desktop.   Step 2: Import into TurboTax Open your tax return and go to the File menu at the very top. Select Import > From Accounting Software (or From TXF Files on Mac). Select Other Financial Software (TXF file) and click Continue. Browse for the file you just downloaded and click Import Now. Important: Only "Items" and "Money" donations import this way. Mileage and Stock donations must be entered manually because the old .TXF format doesn't support that data.   TurboTax Online does not support importing .TXF or .CSV files for charitable donations. You have to use the "Summary Method."   Step 1: Get your Summary Report In Deductible Duck, go to Tax Reports and download the Donation Summary (PDF). This report will group your donations by Charity Name and tell you the total value for each. Step 2: Manual Entry in TurboTax Online Go to Deductions & Credits > Charitable Donations. Add a charity (e.g., "Goodwill"). Instead of listing every shirt, enter the Total Value from your Deductible Duck summary for that specific charity. Keep the detailed Deductible Duck PDF with your tax records in case of an audit.
its $110 and mostly it gets refund when taxes are filed in foreign country , so I want to show FTC=0 for interest and FTC against the foreign dividends

Schedule C or as Foreign Earned Income, not form 4852.  Form 4852 is for employees who's US employer did not issue a W-2 when they were required to.  Since the foreign university is not required to send you a W-2, form 4852 would not be appropriate.   Reporting on Schedule C, will require you to pay Self-Employment Taxes which are 15.3% which is the Medicare and Social Security Taxes. You will do this if the university does not exert control over the how, what and when you perform your job.  To include a Schedule C on your return using TurboTax, you would need to use TurboTax Home and Business or TurboTax Premium.     How do I report income from self-employment?   If they do control how and what and where you teach, then you would be considered an employee and would report your income on line 1h of form 1040  You can do this by going through the foreign earned income section and answering the questions accurately. Since you are only abroad for 2 months, you would not qualify for earned income exclusion, however, if they do withhold taxes for the foreign country or you pay them directly to the foreign country, you may be able to take a foreign tax credit.    To enter foreign earned income select the following: Federal Income Less common Income Foreign Earned Income and Exclusion
@ddenese80 YAY!!!
Yes, I understand. The ESA/QTP worksheet did allow me to write in Room and Board on line 7 for one of my kids who is also not a dependent and it kept it when calculating total expenses.

What problem are you having @wm5ramey? Have you tried the steps below? This is not a TurboTax issue but due to browser security updates.   If you received a "Success" message but your data hasn't appeared in TurboTax, it is likely due to recent browser security updates regarding Local Network Access.   To fix this you need to allow TurboTax to securely retrieve your data through your browser settings: Locate the View Site Information icon (the "tune" or "lock" icon) on the far left of your address bar, just before the URL. Find Local Network Access in the dropdown menu. Toggle the switch to ON. Refresh the page and attempt your import again. If permissions aren't the issue, one of the following factors may be at play: Brokerage Delays: While most forms arrive by January 31, many brokerages delay Consolidated 1099s (like the 1099-B) until mid-February due to complex reporting requirements. Availability: Your brokerage must specifically "release" the import file to TurboTax. If it isn’t ready, we recommend checking back. Connection Blocks: Active VPNs or aggressive Anti-Virus software can occasionally block the import feature between your bank and TurboTax. Try disabling them temporarily or switching to a different browser. Helpful TurboTax Articles: What if I can't import my 1099? How can I fix my 1099 import issue? How do I import my 1099s? When I checked on the sbtpg site it says that it was deposited to my Credit Karma on the 24 and I actually did it to receive it 5 days early

A checkmark on a rejected return means the system still thinks the return as "filed" or "pending" rather than "rejected."    Here are the steps to fix this;   Force Access to the Return (The "Add a State" Trick)  If "Fix my return" isn't working, you need to trick the system into unlocking your return. Sign in to your TurboTax On the Tax Home screen,  scroll down and look for "Add a state". This will re-open your return and allow you to edit it. Note: You don't‌ have to add a new state; this just unlocks the return. Clear Browser  Cache & Cookies If you are still seeing the checkmark, your browser may be showing cached information.  Log out of TurboTax. Clear your browser's cache and cookies. Log in using an Incognito/Private window. This is in the vertical 3 dots at the right-hand top of the page.  If You Still Cannot Edit If the above methods fail, you may need to: Use the "Delete" option to remove the state return, which can sometimes allow you to re-enter your information. If the rejection continues, you might need to print and mail your return instead of e-filing.
