@bob-cirulnick    The PDf is virtually useless for that .................the Online program really needs the .tax2024 datafile, not the PDF.

It depends. If you are using TurboTax Online, set up two additional accounts to file Married Filing Separate, then you can see the differences between filing jointly or separately.   For TurboTax Desktop you can use the What-If Worksheet (it may appear as What-If Wks).     Keep in mind that some states can be a determining factor. For example, if both spouses are working, in Ohio (OH) it could be an overall better result to file separately. Many states will not function this way and could cause a higher overall tax. Be sure to take into account your state returns as well. Is it better for a married couple to file jointly or separately? How can I compare married filing jointly with married filing separately? @PRB-baker

I SHOULD HAVE SAID I COULD BE CLAIMED AS A DEPENDENT   Did you say you could not be claimed as someone else’s dependent, but it turns out your parent(s) can claim you?  Now your parents’ return is being rejected when they e-file, or it will be rejected.    Your part in fixing this will be to wait until the IRS has fully processed your tax return, and then you must amend your own return.  You use a form called a 1040X.   You will go to MY INFO and go through the interview questions to the one that asks if someone else can claim you as a dependent.  Say YES.   Meanwhile, your parent(s) do not need to wait for you to amend.  Waiting will not help them at all.   They can either print, sign and date their return in ink, and file it by mail.   OR   GET IP pin in order to e-file if your dependent’s SSN was claimed on another return   https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-takes-steps-to-help-prevent-refund-delays-by-accepting-duplicate-dependent-returns-with-an-ip-pin-for-2025-filing-season-taxpayers-encouraged-to-sign-up-soon-for-ip-pin-online-account     https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/get-an-identity-protection-pin     If you are the parent whose e-file has been rejected—- follow the steps above to file your own tax return that claims your child.   If it is any comfort, you (and your parents) are among many young tax filers who make this mistake.  We will be seeing plenty of posts just like yours.   And posts from the parents whose e-files were rejected....   The Form 1040X is scheduled to be available on March 4.  The date is subject to change, so check on 3-4 to see if it is ready.   Before that, do not change anything at all on your return.
I have the same issue.  I filed my taxes on 2/21 and have not received an acceptance from either federal or state.

The TurboTax date for receiving a federal tax refund is only an estimate.   Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.   Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.   If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds If accepted by the state use this TurboTax support FAQ to check the state tax refund status - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_...   After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.

I am on a telephone hold.  However, I believe there is an issue with Turbo Tax Deluxe Desktop for MAC.  I believe it occurs on Line D of the Smart Worksheet (1040 Line 6) labeled "Earlier Year Tax Return Smart Worksheet for Social Security Lump Sun Benefits.  I received a lump-sum benefit in 2025 for the 2024 tax year.  The calculation use my taxable social security benefits from 2024.  The system automatically and incorrectly input a taxable amount $21,762  from my 2024 return.  However, my 2024 return actually shows a TAXABLE amount of of $25,602 (85% of gross benefit of $30,120).   85% of $25,602 is $21,762.  Thus, the 85% was calculated twice in error.  I cannot manually change this amount.  Please let me know how to proceed as soon as possible.

The issue is that the way that the questions were asked about Property Tax. Made it so it assumed i did not qualify.  but one i entered the form part (instead of the QA part) and started filing out the info it said i get a refund similar to last year.   the way that the questions are asked needs to be updated.    I am trying to report the BUG in the software but not sure who to turn to.
