I understand you guys have a set of responses to use in response to our posts. But this isn't helpful whatsoever. After 15 years of doing my taxes through Turbo Tax, I am well aware of how the process works. That wasn't what my question was. My concern is I am getting the run around from Cross River Bank, Turbo Tax, and Credit Karma on where my money is. Everyone is blaming the other, but nobody is actually answering my questions. Over 5 hours of sitting on hold, between the multiple calls to each entity, and I still am no closer to knowing where my refund actually is. Cross River Bank says they submitted the funds to the Turbo Tax router account on 2/18. Turbo Tax says they submitted the funds to my Credit Karma spend account on 2/18. Credit Karma says they haven't received anything. I've never had my refunds go through Cross River Bank, I don't even have record of requesting "5 Days Early" aside from just sending the funds to Credit Karma, and I have never had an issue like this before. I have always loved filing with Turbo Tax, but this will be my last year using your system to file my taxes.

Yes correct, but my total loans are great than 1M. This is the test case that I posted below that causes the bug. I would be curious to see if you can reproduce Test 2: Loan1: $700K open balance, secured by primary home, loan originated 1/1/2022, ending balance $675K, mark as REFI from loan originating 9/1/2009, all funds used to payoff prior loan Loan2: $700K open balance, secured by secondary home, loan originated 1/1/2021, ending balance $675K thank you

Sorry for your loss. Assuming he was the sole owner. The first question is whether he had suspended Passive Activity Losses because IRC 469(g)(2) specifies that some may be immediately deductible, while the rest is permanently lost. I doubt TurboTax can handle this
IRC section 469(g)(2) addresses the disposition of a passive activity by death. If a passive activity is transferred by reason of the taxpayer’s death, then the suspended PALs can be deducted on the decedent’s final Form 1040 “to the extent such losses are greater than the excess (if any) of (i) the basis of such property in the hands of the transferee (You), over (ii) the adjusted basis of such property immediately before the death of the taxpayer(your husband).” As such, these “freed-up” PALs can offset other income (e.g., interest, dividends, earned income) on the decedent’s final Form 1040. Any losses not in excess of this step-up in basis “shall not be allowed as a deduction for any taxable year.”
To illustrate this rule, assume at the time of the taxpayer’s death, a passive investment has a basis of $50,000, a fair market value of $75,000, and PALs of $30,000. Under IRC section 1014, by virtue of being included in the taxpayer’s estate, the investment’s basis is stepped-up to $75,000. Because the $30,000 of PALs exceeds the $25,000 basis step-up by $5,000, that $5,000 can be taken as an ordinary loss on the taxpayer’s final Form 1040. The remaining $25,000 of PALs is lost forever.
His share of income and expenses until his date of death need to be reported as well as depreciation
for depreciation, you need to check the box converted to personal use and his date of death
Your basis becomes the Fair value of the property on the date of his death. It probably needs to be split between land and building. You also have to report your share of income and deductions.
if you live in a community property state, the rules for basis and step-up would be different. This is also the case if you were a joint owner with him.

I don't think anyone can guarantee anything about someone else's computer system. There are too many variables. It can also depend on where your tax data files are located. In Windows the default folder for the data files is the Documents\TurboTax folder. The files in that folder are not "supposed" to be affected by uninstalling, but it pays to exhibit caution. If you stored them somewhere else, you might have to be even more careful. Regardless, I would definitely make copies and back up all your *.taxYYYY data files (including multiple years if present) and also any return PDFs you made and store them somewhere such as an external drive or thumb drive--just in case. You should be backing them up somewhere anyway. I back up my tax data file frequently while working on my return since I have seen some anecdotes in this forum about tax data files going missing for other reasons.

A fun-fact about this is how the TurboTax forms still contain the ItsDeductible sections. Knowing early in 2025 they were going to terminate ItsDeductible, why didn't they update their tax forms?

I have been going in circles on TurboTax Online trying to get it to properly treat and calculate my excess 2025 Roth IRA contribution on Form 5329. I have already withdrawn the excess contributions, but Online is not letting me reflect this on my 2025 tax forms without having a 1099-R (which in Box 7 you use Code 8 to indicate return of your excess contribution). I won't ever receive a 2025 1099-R because I withdrew my 2025 excess contribution in Feb 2026. I will get a 2026 1099-R in January 2027, which I should have to do nothing with but file it away. I should be able to file my 2025 taxes and report that I withdrew my 2025 Roth IRA contribution on time and report and pay taxes on the earnings I made on the excess contribution through December 31 and not have to pay a 6% penalty this year. BTW, I believe it is also incorrectly calculating and displaying your excess contribution if you are married, filing jointly. So not only does it access the 6% penalty, but it assesses it on the wrong amount. I asked 20 questions in the help portal on the right to try to get guidance, but it keeps telling me I must pay the 6% penalty on my excess 2025 Roth IRA contribution NOW, then file a 2025 amended return next year to (hopefully) get the penalty back next year. This is not per IRS rules, and simply incorrect. If you withdraw the Roth IRA excess contribution before the 2025 filing deadline (April 15, 2026) you are not subject to the 6% penalty on your excess 2025 Roth IRA contribution......ever. It does tell me correctly to not enter a manual 2025 1099-R because I will get a 2026 1099-R next year. But there is no way to tell it not to impose the 6% penalty on Form 5329. So, I keep going in circles. CoPilot AI tells me the only way to file a correct TurboTax 2025 tax return is to use Desktop where I can manually correct the forms and worksheets to be correct. This is ridiculous. Online needs to be fixed.

@ANTMAN0905 This is an old thread that has had no activity since 2022. If your question is about a deposit posting to your account on a Saturday, it is possible but will depend on the practices of your own bank and what they do over the weekends.
FROM THE IRS WHERE’S MY REFUND SITE:
https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund
How it works
Where's My Refund shows your refund status:
Return Received – We received your return and are processing it.
Refund Approved – We approved your refund and are preparing to issue it by the date shown.
Refund Sent – We sent the refund to your bank or to you in the mail. It may take 5 days for it to show in your bank account or several weeks for your check to arrive in the mail.

Can't Open TurboTax. Used CCleaner to clean computer and update software. When done, several programs wouldn't open. I fixed this, in part, by reinstalling Chrome and Microsoft Edge, but I hesitated when attempting to reinstall TurboTax. My taxes were done, but not filed. If I uninstall current program and reinstall the program, will I lose my data or will it be found and used by the reinstalled program?

Looking at our last ADP paystubs from 2025 it's broken down (Regular, Overtime, Holiday, etc...) earned for the full year - I did try the "Overtime" amount listed on our paystubs and our refund is more than double it's ever been which raised a red flag that I might not be entering the correct amount. And the last thing I need is the IRS coming for me lol So am I supposed to enter the "Year To Date Overtime" amount from my ADP Pay Stub like I already did or is there a way to calculate from that amount how much I'm supposed to claim? Sadly our paystubs don't list how many overtime hours for the year - just the dollar amount earned for the year, so that's all I have to go with unless I contact HR and have them find out. But I'd really like to just get them done and out of the way.

Sadly, you have waited too long. TurboTax no longer supports or provides updates for 2021 software. They support and provide updates and software for 2022 onward only.
