Did you have federal tax withheld or New Jersey tax withheld? If federal tax was withheld, in W-2G box 4, that does not apply to the New Jersey tax return, so it will not be transferred. If the W-2G has NJ in box 13 and state tax withheld in box 15, that should transfer to the New Jersey tax return. But check to make sure that the New Jersey tax withheld on the W-2G is included in the New Jersey tax withheld on Form NJ-1040NR line 50.

That is correct.  You can import the form again, but you may need to delete the original if the 2nd import doesn't overwrite the first one.   Or you can edit the 1099 that was already imported.   The best option will depend on how many changes there are.   And yes, save your tax file before the RE-import and you will want to give it that file a new name, so you end up with different tax files to compare.
The update for room and board expenses for dependents and non-dependents will be fully updated by the end of the week. Please check back on Friday.

My mother passed away in 2024. I was the personal representative for her estate and also created an LLC in order to sell her home. Her home was sold in 2025. The home is the only thing in her estate. The proceeds from her home were split between my brother and I.  Do I need to create an account for the Estate/LLC and file the 1041(creating a Schedule K-1 for my brother and I)? I did receive a 1099 S when the home was sold. Are there other forms I need or other things I need to do/file?

First of all, lets be clear that "what dollars were used for what" throughout the year does NOT (necessarily)  need to be the same as the way you report it on your tax return. In other words, you could get a scholarship, pay tuition, pay Room and Board, buy a laptop needed for class, and then rearrange the expenses however is best on your tax return to get an education credit or lower your tax liability.      Next, I don't think you understand the forms. Box 1 is Only Tuition and fees, no Room and Board. So if box shows 7,110, that is ONLY tuition and fees, NOT Room and Board (even if the room and board was paid to the school) So asking if 4,000 should go to room and board has nothing to do with the 7,100 in box 1 on a 1098-T. Room and board expense does not show on Form 1098-T.    It can seem a bit complicated, but IRS Pub 970 has some great examples to illustrate the options you might have.    Ok, so based on your numbers you have 7,110 for tuition and fees expenses paid to the school. You had 5,303 in scholarships paid in your name to the school. So right off you have 1,807 expenses to apply towards an education credit.   Now, do you also have Books, Fees, and Supplies to add to your expenses? I do not know that. Can you apply for the American Opportunity Tax Credit? I do not know that without additional information but if you are eligible, you most likely will want to ty to get it.    The American Opportunity Tax Credit maxes out with 4000 expenses.  SO if you already have 1807 in tuition, you max out with 2,193 additional education expenses.    You could then allocate 2,193 of the scholarship to room and board leaving only 3110 to go toward tuition leaving 4,000 for an education credit (the max)  This means you will be taxed as income the 2,193, but the credit will more than likely make up for the tax on the income.    You may need to clarify what numbers are reporting what. Contact the school student aid or school billing records if you are not sure.
Thank you so much for your information. I discovered my error last evening also and made the correction as you suggested . I appreciate your help!

Hello,   Has there been any resolution to this issue of having only 5 lines available for the T1135?  Other tax software like UFile provide way more lines for its users.  Limiting the number of lines to 5 for Part B(2)-Shares of non-resident corporations is not realistic.  It is not correct to "combine items" as suggested in TurboTaxSusan's response below since the T1135 instructions clearly say that the taxpayer must "report the detail of EACH PARTICULAR PROPERTY that was held at any time during the year in the appropriate category".  Also, asking the customer to mail in the T1135 when Netfile capability is supposed to be available with the software does not seem to take into consideration that this presents additional work and cost to the customer.  I don't understand while there are so many lines available in the Schedule 3, but only 5 lines are available in Part B(2) of the T1135.     This issue has been raised in earlier years.  If it has not been fixed for the 2025 year, is TurboTax ever going to get around to fixing it?  If not, customers who hold shares of more than 5 non-resident corporations at any time during the year may have to seek other software options unless they want to be saddled with the additional inconvenience and cost of filing the T1135 by mail separately.   Thank you.
