If you are sure that you are correct, then yes the box 1 amount (actually shown on your 1098-T) is the amount to be used to claim the credit (plus the cost of any books and a computer). You'll have to make adjustments when you enter the 1098-T.

Same for me. I have no idea why this account and routing number was put into my tax return. California told me that my refund was sent on 1/29/26. It is 2/12/26 and NO ONE seems to know where my money is. And you can’t find a number to cross river and when you find A number, it leads you back to turbo tax.

Thank you for your reply. One question. I know how TurboTax AZ knows to add the additional senior discount from the Federal return. But since it does not display it on the AZ tax schedules, how does the AZ taxing authority know why the detail does not support the number that ends up in the AZ return? I don't believe that any of the Federal return forms or schedules make up any part of the AZ return. How does AZ know that the $4,393 is correct since it appears nowhere on the AZ schedules?

It sounds like you might be confusing two different credits. If you can claim your daughter as a "qualifying relative" dependent then you can get the non-refundable $500 credit for other dependents. When you mentioned "child" credit---did you confuse that with the child and dependent care credit---which is the one you get if you pay someone to take care of them so you can work?
To get the credit for other dependents:
Make sure you have entered your daughter as a dependent in My Info, and that you have entered her Social Security number. Careful— do not say that your daughter's SSN is not valid for employment. There is an oddly worded question that asks if the child paid over half their own support. Say NO to that question.
Qualifying relative
They don't have to be related to you (despite the name).
They aren't claimed as a dependent by someone else.
They're a U.S. citizen, resident alien, national, or a Canadian or Mexican resident.
They aren’t filing a joint return with their spouse.
They lived with you the entire year (exceptions apply).
They made less than $5200 in 2025 (not counting Social Security)
You provided more than half of their financial support.
When you add someone as a dependent, we'll ask a series of questions to make sure you can claim them. There may be other tax benefits you can get when you claim a dependent.
Related Information:
What does "financially support another person" mean?
The credit for other dependents will show up on line 19 of your Form 1040.

On Schedule D Part III under 1 (beneficiaries) is blank should it be filled in with amounts reflected under Estate column so it can rollover to distributable income for schedule k-1 form? Thanks

You are missing half the question. Is it cut off? The full question is,
Check here if your main home, and your spouse’s if filing a joint return, was in the U.S. for more than half of 2025.
