The “senior deduction” is added automatically by the software based on the date of birth and filing status you entered into MY INFO. You do not need to take any extra steps to enter it. (And…the new senior deduction has nothing to do with whether you are getting Social Security)
The deduction is not on the same line as your standard deduction. It is shown separately.
2025 STANDARD DEDUCTION AMOUNTS
SINGLE $15,750 (65 or older/legally blind + $2000)
MARRIED FILING SEPARATELY $15,750 (65 or older/legally blind +1600)
MARRIED FILING JOINTLY $31,500 (65 or older/legally blind + $1600)
HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD $23,625 (65 or older/legally blind + $2000)
For 2025 through 2028 there is an extra deduction amount of up to $6000 per individual 65 or older filing Single, MFJ, or HOH which is phased out for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income over $75,000 for single filers and $150,000 for joint filers.
(The deduction phases out completely at $175.000 Single or HOH, or $250,000 joint)
The $6,000 senior deduction will be calculated on 1040 Schedule 1-A page 2 Part V Enhanced Deduction for Seniors which goes to 1040 line 13b. It is separate and in addition to the Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions on 1040 line 12e. Turbo Tax automatically includes it.

If you are not getting the senior deduction it is because
Your date of birth in MY INFO shows that you were not 65 by the end of 2025
Your income is too high
You are filing married filing separately

Have you had success in the meantime with transferring your 2024 return? If not, please state all of the steps you have taken. Here's how to securely move a date file to your new computer while minimizing the chances of data corruption: Make sure your new computer has TurboTax installed on it. Connect a thumb drive or other portable device to your old computer. Copy or move your tax data file to the device. (We recommend copying instead of dragging and dropping.) After copying, disconnect or eject the portable device and connect it to your new computer. Browse to the portable device, select your tax return file, drag it to your desktop (or other easy-to-find location), then release the mouse key and copy (instead of moving) the file. After copying, open TurboTax, browse to where you copied your tax file and open it to make sure it didn't get corrupted. If your file somehow got corrupted, delete it from your device and your new computer and repeat these steps from the beginning. You might want to delete the file from your portable device for security purposes. [Edited 02/11/26| 4:03pm PST] @59_51-ep: (edited)

Be aware that if you file early, and say you completed the rollover, but then fail to in fact complete the rollover by even one day, you will need to file an amended return and could owe interest and penalties on the taxes not paid by April 15. Make sure that when you make the payment, you leave enough extra business days for the receiving plan to process the transaction before the 15th.

TurboTax, do you have an update on this reported issue? I provided my information a week ago, and another customer provided information nearly a week ago. This should be an easy fix. Is there an ETA?

We at Intuit TurboTax want our users to be completely delighted with their experience using our products and services, and successful in their financial lives and businesses. Once you file your return, as long as the settings to receive communication from Intuit don’t block it, you will see a pop-up message or receive an email with a survey asking you about your experience. We encourage you to leave your notes and comments there. “Voice of the Customer” notes and comments are read and acted upon. If you are using TurboTax Desktop, you can also leave feedback at the Final Steps tab.

No, there are no additional forms required. After you enter your Form 1099-R, there will be a series of questions. Continue through ALL of the questions and make sure you answer the question "What Did You Do With The Money From [Retirement Plan]"? Be sure you indicate that you "rolled over all of this money to an IRA or other retirement account (or returned it to the same account)." Indicate you have even if you have not, but make sure you do rollover the money into an IRA or other retirement plan.

You will have to enter your second lowest cost silver plan premium (SLCSP) in column 2 for your Form 1095-A entries. It is the second lowest cost sliver plan available when you applied for your insurance. You can log into the marketplace Healtcare.gov where there is a tax tool you can use to find the amount.
