don't know if you are using online or desktop because each requires a separate approach.
With desktop, you can go into forms mode. Go to the 8949 where the trades are reported and enter O (the letter) in the adjustment code column for each of those trades. Then in the adjustment amount column you'll need to enter either a positive or negative amount to zero out the reported gain or loss. I cannot provide guidance for online versions.

Just to confirm, since 38-2538297 is the EIN for the Michigan Bureau of Workers and Unemployment Compensation - KimTreadway, you received unemployment pay from MI and that is the payer, correct? Otherwise, different details would apply.
Make sure you have the state entered for box 10a, as well.
In your response, you have a period after the first 2 digits, make sure you do not use a period when typing into the TurboTax menu.
Finally, this workaround would not apply if your box 11 is empty; your 1099-G does have a value in box 11, correct?
TurboTax will not allow you to proceed without 10a, 10b, and 11 filled in if there is a value entered into any one of those boxes.

@WanderingEarthMagnet What you describe overriding is not form 1099-Q. It's the 1099-Q worksheet. That is not sent to the IRS. When the box 1 amount on form 1099-Q is fully covered by expenses, TurboTax will enter nothing about the 1099-Q on any actual tax forms (TT does not inform the IRS that your distribution was fully covered by expenses). It just doesn't report anything. There is no more risk doing nothing than going thru the effort to get TT to tell you what you already know.
The 1099-Q is only an informational document. The numbers on it are not required to be entered onto your (or your student's) tax return. The interview is complicated and it's easy to make mistakes. Avoid it if you can and you probably can.
You can just not report the 1099-Q, at all, if your student-beneficiary has sufficient educational expenses, including room & board (even if he lives at home) to cover the distribution. When the box 1 amount on form 1099-Q is fully covered by expenses, TurboTax will enter nothing about the 1099-Q on the actual tax forms. But, it will prepare a 1099-Q worksheet for your records (you don’t need it). You would still have to do the math to see if there were enough expenses left over for you to claim the tuition credit. You also cannot count expenses that were paid by tax free scholarships.
References:
On form 1099-Q, instructions to the recipient reads: "Nontaxable distributions from CESAs and QTPs are not required to be reported on your income tax return. You must determine the taxability of any distribution."
IRS Pub 970 states: “Generally, distributions are tax free if they aren't more than the beneficiary's AQEE for the year. Don't report tax-free distributions (including qualifying rollovers) on your tax return”.
"IRS Publication 970, Tax Benefits for Education states: If the entire 1099-Q went to qualified expenses, room and board, tuition, etc; then, you do not need to enter the form."

SAVE YOUR TAX RETURNS !
EVERY year before mid-October you should save a copy of your tax return as a pdf and print a copy of it for your records. That way you will not be searching online frantically when you need it for a lender, FAFSA forms, your next tax return, etc.

I SHOULD HAVE SAID I COULD BE CLAIMED AS A DEPENDENT
Did you say you could not be claimed as someone else’s dependent, but it turns out your parent(s) can claim you? Now your parents’ return is being rejected when they e-file, or it will be rejected.
Your part in fixing this will be to wait until the IRS has fully processed your tax return, and then you must amend your own return. You use a form called a 1040X. You will go to MY INFO and go through the interview questions to the one that asks if someone else can claim you as a dependent. Say YES.
Meanwhile, your parent(s) do not need to wait for you to amend. Waiting will not help them at all. They can either print, sign and date their return in ink, and file it by mail.
OR
GET IP pin in order to e-file if your dependent’s SSN was claimed on another return

https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/get-an-identity-protection-pin
If you are the parent whose e-file has been rejected—- follow the steps above to file your own tax return that claims your child.
If it is any comfort, you (and your parents) are among many young tax filers who make this mistake. We will be seeing plenty of posts just like yours. And posts from the parents whose e-files were rejected....
