Today is February 13, 2026 10:45 am and the desktop program continues to report "depreciation is not ready until February, probably sooner." No, it is not ready, not even sooner.

You can enter the information in summary form but you will likely need to mail in your tax return so you attach the Form 1099-B showing the detail. The only exception would be if you didn't have any uncovered sales, ones on which the cost basis is not reported on the Form 1099-B.

Thank you. I appreciate your help. So, I, as the estate executor, will distribute the refunds of the withheld taxes that the estate receives back to the beneficiary, and she will use the1099-R from the plan administrator to pay the taxes? Does she file the 1099-R with her taxes, even though it is in the name of the estate?

I have a 1099-R source that carried over from last year's taxes (TurboTax Desktop Premier 2025 Windows 11). I am unable to edit it and input 2025 values. I am also unable to delete it to input it again. I experimented and input an identical item, but now I have 2 - one with values, and one that has zeroes. How do I fix it?

Unreimbursed employee business expenses for your W2 income are not deductible on your federal return. So the home office that you use for that is not a deduction. That worksheet is to see if it is deductible for your state tax return. If you live in Alabama, Arkansas, California, Hawaii, Maryland, Minnesota, New York or Pennsylvania you can deduct these expenses on your state return. Otherwise it is not deductible at all.

We can not see your return, so I'm assuming that you are having trouble trying to decide which category to use for your Box 14 entry.
Enter the description from your W-2's box 14 on the first field in the row. Then enter the dollar amount, and select the correct tax category that goes with that description.
If none of the categories apply, scroll to the bottom of the list and select Other (not classified).
If you have another type of question or need further assistance, please let us know.

I really don't understand the hand wringing and drama being expressed because the D and A final update has not dropped yet. It's only the middle of February and our taxes aren't due until April 15th which is 2 months away. In years past, I've had to wait until the 3rd week in February to receive all of the tax forms from some financial institutions. I guess if I was anticipating a refund from the IRS and/or state I would be anxious to file. Due to fluctuations I haven't overpaid taxes for a couple of years, so I don't feel the pressure to get my taxes done ASAP. I have entered all that I can so when D and A gets enabled, I can file.

I manually entered 1099-B values (TurboTax Desktop Premier 2025 Windows 11) and noted an error. When I click and open the field, there is an "Edit" button that just takes me back to the original screen. It doesn't matter if I am in "walk me" view or forms. Cannot left double-click or right click to get back to value. How do I fix it?

Social Security Retirement/Disability/Survivors benefits are reported on a form SSA-1099 and the benefits received are to be entered on a federal tax return. The benefits may be taxable depending on the amount of other income you have entered on your tax return.
However, if the Social Security benefits is the Only income to be reported on the tax return and there is no federal income taxes being withheld, then there is no reason or need to file a tax return.
Unless you also received a Form 1095-A for your health insurance through one of the State Marketplace Exchanges or from healthcare.gov then you must file a tax return.
To enter Social Security benefits reported on form SSA-1099
Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business) Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business) Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown) Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security On Social Security (SSA-1099, RRB-1099), click the start or update button
Up to 85% of Social Security Retirement/Disability/Survivors benefits becomes taxable when all your other income plus 1/2 your social security reaches:
Married Filing Jointly - $32,000
Single or Head of Household - $25,000
Married Filing Separately - 0

No, stocks that were not sold but were distributed directly to beneficiaries do not need to be reported on a Form 1041. There is nothing taxable for stocks that were transferred directly to a beneficiary.
If the stocks were sold by the trustee/executor, then these sales would get reported on the Form 1041 and the gain (or loss) on the sale would get distributed to each beneficiary via a K-1 form. Do realize that any inherited stock has a basis value per share on the date of the decedent's passing.

That will happen if you indicate that you do not materially participate in the activity. You will see that questions on the screen that says Do You Actively Participate? to which you have to answer "yes" if that is true. You will see that question when you edit your Schedule K-1 entry. You may have answered the question wrong by mistake.
