Hello, I’m looking to take the foreign tax deduction rather than the FEIE or foreign tax credit. However, whenever I submit the itemized amount of foreign tax I paid, the system does not seem to remember these figures or add them to the equation in any way. What am I doing wrong?

File the tips by placing them in the section noted below.
If you received cash or card tips that you didn't report to your employer (so they’re not on your W-2 at all), you’ll report them first to claim the deduction. You can learn more about this situation in this article.
After entering your W-2, look for the Let's check for other situations screen.
Check the box next to Tips not reported on my W-2.
We’ll guide you through reporting this income first.
Based on your answers, TurboTax will automatically determine if they qualify and calculate your deduction.

What kind of business returns did you file? Did you use the Windows Desktop Business program? You can’t import a business return into a personal return. You can only Transfer a 2024 personal return into 2025. Or did you file your business on Schedule C? That is part of your personal return. So if you did that then your personal was filed too. If you didn’t include all the rest of your personal info and income then you will have to wait and amend your return later to add the missing info.

In TurboTax Business Desktop 2025 - there is no longer an option to tick "We rent real estate" in the About our Business section which would trigger an 8825 Form for us to enter expenses against our Royalty income. How do I do that in 2025's desktop software?

Desktop Turbotax for Mac doesn't include the extra senior deduction, despite what is said here: The “senior deduction” is added automatically by the software based on the date of birth and filing status you entered into MY INFO. You do not need to take any extra steps to enter it. (And…the new senior deduction has nothing to do with whether you are getting Social Security) I'm married filing separately, which shouldn't matter, per the IRS

I entered the W2 and it shows tax due (around $2300). I then entered my rental property info. Of course after I entered the rent, the tax due went up, which is expected. Then I started to enter expenses. Everything looks normal until I noticed that after I entered more expenses for the rental, my tax due is bigger- this has never happened before. For example, I added $40 more on repair expense, while the tax due increased $1. I was expecting a reduction on my tax due not an increase to my tax due when I have more expense entered. I then added another $75 on expenses but see no change on the tax due. I am really confused and don't know why this is happening- can anyone help?

You received an email that we cannot see that tells you why your tax return was rejected.
Some rejected returns can be fixed and re-filed. Some have “un-fixable” reasons for the rejection and have to be mailed instead.
What is the rejection code or rejection message?
If it was rejected for AGI—-your 2024 AGI might not be in the IRS system if you filed late. Try using zero instead.
If filing with zero is rejected then file again but select the option that you did not file last year. The IRS does not see that question and it will allow you to e-file with no AGI question.

If that does not work and you still cannot e-file, then print, sign, and mail your tax return.

I feel your pain. I have been getting the Arkansas 6000 dollar pension deduction for over a decade. This year it forces me to do that 65 Special thing. So I uncheck and manually over ride and correct the forms to give me the 6000. I get all the way to efile and paid $25 for the state efile and then they tell they need to check 1 more thing and bring me right back to those over rides and will not let me efile until I change them which would make them incorrect. Now I ran Smart check at least 10 times and they wait until I pay my 25 dollars to tell me this. If I would not have paid already, I would just print the from for Arkansas and mail them in. Please let me know if you find a solution. And I'll do the same. I'm going to post a new question as well.

If the entire distribution represented on the 1099-Q is for qualified expenses, remove the 1099-Q entry to get to the correct tax. The IRS requires only that taxable distributions be reported. Once TurboTax matches income on the 1099-Q with expenses it essentially ignores the form anyway. If you're able to do that on your own and determine there is no taxable distribution, removing the form will resolve the issue for you. If you need to report a partially taxable distribution, please let us know and we can offer additional assistance.

No, you don't need to amend your 2024 tax return. And your original filing is already correct. The return was filed accurately with the correct information. Keep the 1099-R in your tax file should you need it later, it clearly shows nothing is taxable in 2025.
