If you are sure that you have satisfied all RMD requirements, then in TurboTax, on each form 1099-R for RMD withdrawals, answer that The entire distribution was an RMD then on the following page, to the question What is the RMD for your account? enter the amount of the distribution from that IRA account.   By doing this, you are telling TurboTax that all RMDs are satisfied and TurboTax will not calculate any penalty. The information you entered in TurboTax is to enable TurboTax to calculate any penalty where applicable, and is not reported to the IRS.

Same.  And I will contact Costco's CEO to explain the full history informing them that TurboTax is no longer the best product on the market.  TurboTax has now abdicated the top spot to H&R Block.  Google it.  There are already rating systems that give H&R Block the top position.  I'm giving TurboTax some time (maybe ME March 2026?) to reconsider this terrible customer unfriendly decision before moving forward on my plan with Costco, which is where I bought the now downgraded TurboTax product. TBH, I would grumble but keep going if TurboTax would just charge extra for ItsDeductible.  Which I seem to recall is what they did years ago before it was integrated into the software package.

The “senior deduction” is added automatically by the software based on the date of birth and filing status you entered into MY INFO.  You do not need to take any extra steps to enter it. (And…the new senior deduction has nothing to do with whether you are getting Social Security)   The deduction is not on the same line as your standard deduction.  It is shown separately.     2025 STANDARD DEDUCTION AMOUNTS SINGLE $15,750  (65 or older/legally blind + $2000) MARRIED FILING SEPARATELY $15,750  (65 or older/legally blind +1600) MARRIED FILING JOINTLY $31,500  (65 or older/legally blind + $1600) HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD $23,625 (65 or older/legally blind + $2000)     For 2025 through 2028 there is an extra  deduction amount of up to $6000 per individual 65 or older filing Single, MFJ, or HOH which is phased out for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income over $75,000 for single filers and $150,000 for joint filers.   (The deduction phases out completely at $175.000 Single or HOH, or $250,000 joint)   The $6,000 senior deduction will be calculated on 1040 Schedule 1-A page 2 Part V Enhanced Deduction for Seniors which goes to 1040 line 13b. It is separate and in addition to the Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions on 1040 line 12e.  Turbo Tax automatically includes it. A heat pump does not require a QMID.  The electric service is only includable if it was necessary for the installation of the heat pump, it also does not need a QMID.

No, the software is not glitched. You are required to report the amount of the money used to pay the attorney even though it didn't actually come into you hands.  It is part of the award you received regardless of your payment for attorney fees.   Treatment of Payments to Attorneys - IRC 6041 and 6045 state that when a payor makes a payment to an attorney for an award of attorney's fees in a settlement awarding a payment that is includable in the plaintiff income, the payor must report the attorney's fees on separate information returns with the attorney and the plaintiff as payees. Therefore, Forms 1099-MISC and Forms W-2, as appropriate, must be filed and furnished with the plaintiff and the attorney as payee when attorney's fees are paid pursuant to a settlement agreement that provides for payments includable in the claimant's income, even though only one check may be issued for the attorney's fees. Click the link above for more information. Can I deduct legal fees on my taxes? Review the information here to see if you qualify for any deduction of those fees. Typically it's only if it's for business use. @Taxed2026

There are like 7 different ways to calculate the tax. It's very common for the tax to be less than you can figure using the IRS tables. It depends what kind of income you have. Even though the full amount shows up in the total income on the 1040 lines 3b or 7, if you have capital gains or qualified dividends the tax is not taken from the tax table but is calculated separately from Schedule D. The tax will be calculated on the Qualified Dividends and Capital Gain Tax Worksheet. It does not get filed with your return. In the online version you need to save your return as a pdf file and include all the worksheets to see it. Save the PDF https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/saving/help/how-do-i-save-my-turbotax-online-return-as-a-pdf/00/26234 For the Desktop version you can switch to Forms Mode and open the worksheet to see it. Click Forms in the upper right (upper left for Mac) and look through the list and open the Qualified Dividends and Capital Gain Tax Worksheet. And you will need the IRS Tax Tables IRS Qualified Dividends and Capital Gain Tax Worksheet—Line 16 on 1040 instructions page 36. And you will need the IRS Tax Tables starting on page 64 or the Tax Computation Worksheet on page 76. https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i1040gi.pdf
I have already submitted my federal taxes and they were accepted by the IRS. I am now trying to do my state taxes but it won't go past step one.
I have same issue: rental properties information doesn't transfer from 2024 tax file to 2025. What I should do?
