Me and My wife both are 50 yrs old filing our 2025 taxes as married filing jointly. We both have a job and are partners in our LLC which is taxed as partnership with 30-70 profit ratio. When entering 401k for self employed , i get alert saying i am exceeding the limit for the year , ( 2025 tax year, the individual employee deferral limit is $23,500 (plus an additional $7,500 catch-up for those age 50 or older)  I seems that the turbotax application is not considering that i have a job also. example   LLC which is taxed as partnership with 30-70 profit ratio .The LLC has an income of 103540 in 2025.  The 30% partner has contributed $6768.62 for the 401k through the job and $24000 through the LLC as employee. The 70% partner has contributed $23383.92 through job and $7500 through the LLC as employee.    when entering this example i get alert.

I did not work all of 2025 and do not have a W-2. I am filing taxes because I had some unemployment income and an Obama health care subsidy, but I am getting a refund from the state of California. When I attempt to e-file my return, I get a message that the amount on my California Form 540, line 12, does not match the state wages on Form W-2, line 16.  Turbo Tax will not accept a zero in line 12 of form 540. What can I do?  Would someone give me an answer in simple terms that I can understand?  Thx

This needs to be fixed ASAP! Either CSV (ideal) or TXF import in the Desktop version which I already paid for. I am not interested in uploading or attaching PDFs which could lead to mistakes. I can generate a CSV using my own data and double check that it’s accurate in Excel. Just need it to be imported into the 8949.  If this is not fixed soon I will be switching to different software after being a TurboTax user for 20 years.

I spent an hour with customer support and the support couldn't figure out how to claim the 401K auto enrollment credit in TurboTax Online.  When I jump to form 8881 I see a screen that tells me I just need to add pension plan startup costs (see attached screenshot), but there's no way to do that from self-employed expenses.  There's no category for this expense and if I make it an "other" expense where I type my own, "Pension Plan Startup Cost" and various variants of that don't unlock form 8881.  I'm on the premium edition.
Yes, in one of the final steps before filing, TurboTax will ask for your 2024 AGI and your spouse's 2024 AGI separately.

A TurboTax Online account can be used for only one tax return. If you want to file a tax return for someone else you have to use a different account. If you don't have another account that you can use, create a new account. You can have up to 5 accounts with the same email address. If you try to do another return in the same account it will overwrite the first return in that account, and the first return will be gone and not retrievable. If you use TurboTax Desktop instead of TurboTax Online you can do as many returns as you want with one copy of the desktop software, and you can e-file up to 5 federal returns with the associated state returns.

I itemize for Federal and want to itemize for NYS as I usually do with TurboTax; however, this year, TurboTax is forcing me to take the standard NYS deduction even though it's clear that itemizing is better. How can I fix this? I just spent 1+ hours on the phone with Intuit and was supposed to be transferred to another expert but was disconnected instead.
I did not want to file my state through turbo tax, but it charged me. Is there a way to get a refund
@dmertz, Thank you for clarifying.  Can you point me to the correct section so that I can read the rules?  Every time I google search, it claims the opposite. Thanks!
What if you have never lived outside of Oh and US

You can amend your federal tax return for free using TurboTax Online Free Edition, provided you used the same Free Edition to file your original return. You must wait until your initial return is accepted and fully processed by the IRS before starting the amendment process   If the changes require upgrading to a paid version (e.g., adding complex forms, investment income, or state filing). Charges often arise if the amendment moves you beyond the "Simple Return" scope of the Free Edition.   The TurboTax Free Edition is for customers who are filing simple Form 1040 returns only (no schedules except for Earned Income Credit, Child Tax Credit and Student Loan Interest. Roughly 3.7% of taxpayers qualify. If you have additional forms or attachments, you'll need to use a different TurboTax product. You can review your fees using the instructions below to find out why you're being charged. You can follow the instructions in this article to remove any  unwanted Fees Why am I being charged for TurboTax Free Edition?   You can review your fees in TurboTax online as follows: Go to the left side on your screen under "Tax Home" Go to "Tax Tools" then "Tools" The "Tools Center" Box will pop up Click on "My Fees" to see a summary of your Turbo Tax Fees. You are correct about what you have to do. And yes, on the New York tax return the credit for tax paid to another state is called the Resident Credit.
I don't see that option under Debt Matters this year even though I have the exact same metlife plan as previously.
At first I thought this only happened after a software update, but it happened every time I restarted TurboTax desktop.
