To clarify, what state tax return are you preparing?
You can go to the State Taxes area in TurboTax Online and go through your state's organizer.
Look for any question or area that might indicate why your Roth IRA distribution is being taxed on your state return if it is not being taxed on your Federal return.

Sorry, Online is only for 2025 now. Online for 2023 and prior is closed now so you can not start a new 2023 or prior return or finish one. You have to do each year separately How to prepare a prior year return https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/using-turbotax/help/how-do-i-prepare-a-prior-year-tax-return/00/25984 To do a prior year return you have to buy the Desktop program here, https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products You will need Windows 10 or Mac Monterey 12 to install it on. If you have a simple return and want to file for free you can fill out the forms by hand. Here are some basic forms….. Here is the IRS 2023 Form 1040 https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/f1040--2023.pdf or if you want bigger type use 1040SR for Seniors, https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/f1040s--2023.pdf And 2023 Instructions https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/i1040gi--2023.pdf 2023 Tax and EIC Tables https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/i1040tt--2023.pdf Sch 1 : https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/f1040s1--2023.pdf Sch 2 : https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/f1040s2--2023.pdf Sch 3 : https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/f1040s3--2023.pdf You have to print and mail prior year returns. When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS received the return. Don’t forget state.

You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.
Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

Since you are still legally married you can file as Married Filing Separately. However, if you have not lived with your spouse for the last 6 months of the year and you have a qualifying person as a dependent plus you have provided over one-half the cost to maintain a home, you would be eligible for Head of Household.
So, when asked for your filing status select Married and that you will not be including your spouse on the tax return. After entering your dependent the program will ask a series of questions to determine if you are eligible for Head of Household.

Still getting this error above during the check that the program has not been updated yet. This is getting rather annoying. Trying to kludge a solution using trustee to trustee and hoping you don't get audited is not acceptable and shouldn't be expected. Again, this basic setup worked last year and the rules have not changed they just split moving 529 to 529 and 529 rollover to Roth. It is past time that the program is fixed and released to the customers. This delay along with the removal of ItsDeductible might be just the reason I look elsewhere for tax software next year.
