If you don't see Form 4562, Alternative Minimum Tax Depreciation Report, in your saved copy of your 2023 return, you could open your 2023 return again and save as a PDF 'all forms and worksheets' to get it, or just choose to print that specific form.

You should review your fees in your TurboTax account to find out what type of fee you are being charged. Sometimes you start with the Free Edition (which is typically a simple form 1040), but as you enter more complex forms or sections you might be required to upgrade depending on your individual situation.

@ Bub333 asked: "I completed my 2024 taxes and filed, saved the forms as pdf. My taxes did not save in turbo tax and I cannot open them in turbo tax? What happened? I can't tell from that small amount of information if you are using Online TurboTax or desktop software. Please clarify that. If you're using Online TurboTax, what do you see when you log into your account and go to the Tax Home? Do you see evidence that you used it to prepare a 2024 return, but you don't know how to get back to it? OR is it acting like you haven't started one in that account?

6:51 PM (31 minutes ago) Reply to TurboTax Hi Bill! That was fast! Thank you! So let me take these in order. 1. Not positive but in 2023 I did NOT enter an amount on 8889. 2. Yep, box 12A. 3. Correct. Boxes 1 and 16 on my W2 have been different for my whole time at my employer. 4. Amending and deleting form 8889 was my original thought...until I saw I owed PA money when I did that! 5. I did not realize HSA was deductible in PA until I tried to amend, remove form 8889, and saw my amount go from a refund of $27 to an amount due of $40. If that makes sense!

I've been trying to file my return for two months now. The "fix" was promised for 3/17, then 3/27, now 4/4? I share a home with my fiance, I paid for the solar system and want the full credit. I've called Turbo Tax a couple of times, and don't get answers. I finally got to someone who was very nice, and is looking into it, but nothing yet. Now you are telling us you won't provide a pop up statement to fill in and attach to the return so it can be filed electronically? If that has been the case you should have told us in February and I would have mailed the return then and maybe got the credit by now. The mail service is terrible since Covid, mail is lost and never delivered and that is becoming common place with our postal "service". I paid for Turbo tax so I could prepare my return and e file it. I expect a full refund or at a minimum a credit for 2025 Premier! I have spent hours and hours on this, filing rejected returns, calling Turbo Tax, etc. This is completely unacceptable. Anyone that invested in Solar last year and is having these issues should be refunded and told clearly and honestly IF a fix will be made and when or to mail their return now. April 15 is fast approaching. Kick this up to someone in upper management that is empowered to take action! Eric Petersen

Yes, you may report a Casualty Loss for all farm assets lost due to a Federally Declared Disaster, even if you had no income. You will need an appraisal for the trees that were lost, before and after the hurricane.
If the casualty loss is greater than your income, you will have a Net Operating Loss. Generally, when there is a NOL at the end of the year, then you have to carryback the whole NOL to the two tax years before the NOL year ('carryback period'). Then, if there is any leftover NOL after the carryback period, you carryforward the balance for up to 20 years after the NOL year ('carryforward period'). You can't deduct any part of the NOL after the carryforward period.
TurboTax will help you with this situation. Search on "nol" to access that topic.

The interest you paid both before and after the construction period can be deducted as a business expense in the year you paid ( or accrued) it. The interest you pay on the loan during the construction period is not deductible. Instead, this cost must be added to the basis of your property and depreciated over 27.5 years.

You have multiple penalties, Owing more than $5,000 is considered a substantial underpayment of taxes. You will be charged interest on top of the penalties. See Penalties and interest. The interest charged changes quarterly. Here are some real numbers, Section 10, Penalty and Interest Provisions.
The sooner you make payments, the better. You can pay the IRS online at Payments. If necessary, you can Apply online for a payment plan.

PatriciaV, Thank you for clarifying that Form 1040 can still be e-filed with TurboTax, and that Form 7217 can be filled out, printed and mailed through U.S. Postal mail. It appears TurboTax needs to include this instruction in the software rather than instructing TurboTax users to opt to print and mail the 1040 tax return along with Form 7217 rather than e-filing. Thanks, Tom

TurboTax transfers data from your federal return to your state return. Before you start fixing your state return, look at your federal return to make sure everything is correct with your rental property. Make sure that it is listed as Arizona income, and the depreciation is correct.
After you review your federal return, select the State Taxes tab and review the state section. Pay close attention to the information, especially if you have made changes to your federal return. There might be new sections that need to be completed.

Unfortunately, you cannot e-file the joint California tax return. You must mail it. Regulations require that TurboTax can only e-file the state return if the federal return is e-filed.

My two sons who are under 18, were asked to provide my wife's and my SSNs in order to receive payment. They informed us that when we filed for taxes we could report the income as a Nominee Recipient (as described by the IRS)..and pass along the income to our children. However, I'm not sure how to do this. I am using Turbotax for my taxes. Thanks for your help!
