I've seen several people complain that they cannot access MAX and IDNotify via the TurboTax website... does that mean that we won't get customer support if we have a problem?? If we can't go to the "dashboard" to create our accounts, what will happen if we have a problem?   Can TurboTax/Intuit GUARANTEE they'll help us? Thanks in advance
Thanks!   No withholding, thankfully!   So I sum the amounts on the two forms, regardless of the fact that this won't match either form.  Right?

It depends on what program you are using. See your options here: How do I file an IRS tax extension? - TurboTax Support - Intuit    This will extend the time you have to file your taxes until October 15th, 2025.     Also, you may have to do your state taxes: Do I need to file an extension for my personal state taxes?     Remember, an extension gives you more time to prepare your taxes, but it doesn't extend the time to pay your taxes.  If you have an indication that you will owe taxes, you should make the payment by the original due date of the tax return to avoid additional interest and penalties.

Thank you for your response.  That may well be what happened, that they hadn't sent the first version to the IRS yet, so didn't mark it as corrected.  But isn't there a deadline (Jan 31st) that 1099s have to be issued by?  Is there not a deadline for when they have to be submitted to the IRS as well?  It has put me in a pickle, because of course I had already done my tax return well before I received the second 1099 in April, so now I may be required to do an amended return.  But am I required to do an amended return?  That's the biggest question.  I believe I don't have to if my bottom line numbers weren't going to change, yet if I plug the NON-TAXABLE distribution amount from the second 1099, all of a sudden I owe the IRS money.  I don't understand why anything would change if HSA funds were distributed/spent on eligible medical expenses and was answered as such in the TurboTax questions.  Is this possibly a glitch with TurboTax?  If so, what now?

Yes.  You would pay taxes on your pension received while living in ME even if it was earned in NH.  Pensions are taxed by the state you live in when you receive them.  ME does have a $30,000 pension deduction, however this applies first to social security benefits both taxable and non-taxable first.
We'd love to help you complete your tax return, but need more information. Can you please clarify your question?

not sure MD specifics so check the tax code but this can happen when estimated tax wasn't paid timely even if you overpaid.... if you didn't pay the estimated tax evenly thru the year to meet the safe harbor amount (lesser of 90% of 2024 tax or ?110% of 2023 tax), you may be assessed an underpayment penalty for Q1, Q2 etc, even tho by the end you paid the full amount or had a refund.  An overpayment earlier in the year will carry forward to eliminate underpayment later in the year, but no amount of overpayment later in the year can eliminate an underpayment earlier in the year but stops the penalty interest accruing.   in your example you need to have paid 25000x90%=22500 (assume this is the lesser safe harbor option), less withholding 21000 = 1500 ES, $375 due per quarter.  If you didn't pay $5k til Q4 day, you still would incur underpayment penalty for $375 for Q1-3.

Is the money you earn on the reservation or off the reservation?  If it is on the reservation, then generally, you would not need to pay state taxes on the income you earn. There is no place to show that you do not need to file, you simply would not file.  If it is off the reservation, then you would need to pay taxes on the income you earn.

Q. Does the PA-OH agreement apply to local taxes too? A.  No.   Q. How does it work with local taxes? A. The PA city is allowed to withhold for the city you work in (your employer is required to do that). You cannot get that refunded.  But, you do not need to file a PA city tax return.    Q. Do I need to pay both PA local taxes and RITA (Ohio) local taxes? A. Yes.  But  your Ohio home city MAY allow a credit, or partial credit, on your RITA return, for the tax paid to the PA city.   List of credits at https://www.ritaohio.com/TaxRatesTable

Was it a partnership or a single member LLC?  If it was a single member LLC, then you would not likely need to file in the other state, however, these rules can vary depending on which state you live in. You would report the final year of income and expenses (even if it was at a loss) on your Schedule C.  If you have a loss, you can generally use it to offset your ordinary income.  If it was a partnership, then you should have received a k-1 from the partnership to report the income/loss on your return.  In this case, the partnership may have reporting/closing requirements to file with the state, but that varies by state.
